Yes-here’s my understanding… it shows there are antibodies to your own thyroid… shown in the bottom section. I have this also, it’s called hasimotos disease and is really common (I have it too). Your body thinks your thyroid is a threat so makes antibodies against it. Over time this makes the thyroid less effective… so your ‘thyroid stimulating hormone’ tsh increases to make the thyroid work harder.. and your level is elevated. It means that you may need to start thyroid replacement. Tsh should be under 3 really or under 2 if ttc.. so may need onward referal to endocrinologist if you are ttc. Hope this makes sense.

I would add that this is something which progresses over time so if left untreated.. the tsh will continue to rise (mine was over 50 when I was diagnosed), so perhaps before you were over medicated but the situation is different now? Do you know what your levels were before? Did they retest them after supplementing to see if the side effects were from being over medicated? It’s a bit hit and miss to get the levels right tbh

Thankyou for your detailed reply

Yes TTC took over 10 years for my son. Was never told my levels after having my bloods taken. I was on 25 then 50mg but as I said before I came off them due to side effects but I will have to push through those now as 38 and want to have a sibling for my son. Do you know how long it takes for levels to be normal after starting the medication please Thankyou for your help

I’m sorry that it took so long for you to have your son. The length of time to get the levels right depends how quickly they increase the dose. There’s a formula somewhere that estimates thyroxine per kg that you weigh. I weigh 65kg and take 125mcg one day and 100mcg the next, this keeps my tsh below 2… just to give an idea of replacement needed. If you weight less/more this will affect how much you need. I have heard of people having side effects to the tablet excipients (other bulking agents rather than the thyroxine itself) so perhaps ask for a different brand than the one you tried before as it may have different formulation but the same active ingredient. Ask for Gp to refer you to an endocrinologist to help with this as it’s a specialist subject. Good luck with everything op, always here if you need a chat
