Hi ... I've had a rectal and vaginal prolapse for the last 19 years - since childbirth. Yes, a bit annoying sometimes - can feel like its falling out - but not too horrendous.

I've just restarted NHS physio and also been given a vaginal pessary today - with Covid the appointments got "stuck" and then all came at once!

The pessary feels quite uncomfortable and I'm a bit dumbstruck that it seems to protrude a bit from my vagina. It's a ring one so that we can still have sex.

So for those more experienced than me...
What's it been like for you?
Is it worth sticking with it?
Do some people just wear them sometimes? - eg when dancing
What's been its effect on sex?

Any other advice, or encouragement or even stories of it not working??

Thanks

When you say ‘given a vaginal pessary’, did someone fit it for you? Maybe they need to check the size? (I don’t have one btw but know a dr that fits ring pessaries & I don’t think it should be uncomfortable. I hope you get it sorted soon.

Pain or discomfort - You should not be able to feel a pessary if it is correctly placed. If you experience significant pain or discomfort, the pessary may be too large or small and require replacement with a different size. Talk to your doctor if this happens
