Did vaccine accelerate menopause symptoms?

Just wondering if anyone experienced a worsening of menopausal symptoms after having the vaccine. Two weeks after my first vaccine I went from managing a few symptoms to being completely overwhelmed and unable to cope. Now on HRT and feeling better but just wondering if there is a link?

Didn’t notice anything

But seems like periods ‘may’ be impacted for some after a jab so possibly?

DominicRaabsTravelAgent · 16/09/2021 18:09

Which vaccine did you have? My periods went AWOL after the second AZ vaccine for 6 months and my skin had definitely aged.

Marjie3 · 16/09/2021 19:47

I had AZ.

I didn't notice any impact at all on menopause symptoms. They remain very mild. I'm 55 and had my last period 2 years ago. I had AZ as well.

I seem to be bleeding a lot more since my 2nd shot of Pfeizer…. Not sure if it’s linked but it’s a strange coincidence.

Bananasarnie · 16/09/2021 20:26

Well you could certainly say there might be a link between corona virus and the menopause. I went straight into the menopause with covid. Maybe it would have happened anyway though. I’d choose the vaccine over covid any day.

Waxlyrically · 16/09/2021 20:33

AZ appears to have accelerated mine. I was peri before the first injection. Afterwards I completed stopped for two months and then started again. Absolutely nothing since my second injection though and lots of sudden onset symptoms. Could be coincidence I suppose but doesn’t feel like it.

Second dose of Pfizer appeared to cause three surprise periods for me, years after menopause. Effects on menstruation should be fully researched. Last I heard was Zoe dismissing it. I hope proper research is being done. Still very much pro-vax, but it shouldn’t be dismissed.

emmathedilemma · 16/09/2021 21:14

Hmm I’ve had gynae issues so don’t know if it’s that, the jabs or peri menopause but I and was taking the mini pill when I had my first jab and had just stopped taking it about a week before I had my 2nd. On the pill I’d be bleeding daily for over 2 months, that stopped when I stopped taking it, had a period as expected after that and now I’m on day 31 of cycle and still no sign of it……over the last couple of years I’ve been 24-26 day cycles. And there’s absolutely no chance I could be pregnant!!

waybill · 16/09/2021 21:46

No difference whatsoever. My menopause symptoms have been rotten for years, and believe me, I'd have noticed!

All I got with the first dose was a case of the shivers the following day and a sore arm for a week. Second one, I wouldn't even have known I'd had it.

BitterTits · 16/09/2021 21:47

No, nothing.

Alittlebitofthis · 16/09/2021 21:51

I had my second Pfizer vaccination in March. I noticed before that that I've gone from a 28 day cycle to a 21 day cycle. I can't remember if it started after my 1st vaccine or before then. This month, I've missed a period.
I'm 42, definitely not pregnant so not sure what it is.

Turkishangora · 16/09/2021 21:56

Yep same here. Coping ok Jan time (first az jab) but sharp acceleration in menopause symptoms currently since second in April... Last week or so completely floored. Literally feel like I'm not coping...Sad

SunShinesBrightly · 16/09/2021 22:00

Not sure.
Had the usual awful symptoms for 4/5 months after AZ followed by an absolutely horrific cycle/period followed by a totally pain free/symptom free one.
Have no idea if AZ has affected my peri-menopause. Would be interesting to know.

Has anyone on this thread actually reported their issues to the Yellow Card scheme? There are now over 30,000 reports of messed up periods in the UK after taking the vaccine. I find this extremely worrying. Also worrying is that so few people seem to be reporting it. Probably because they don't link the period issues to the vaccine or aren't aware how or even that they should report them.

Yes. Perimenopausal before but still very regular, quite heavy. Periods since have been more spaced out, lighter or completely absent! I'd been using a period tracker to track symptoms so it's really clear

I haven't but I only realised that it could have been this when I saw the article mentioning it. I am going to.

Cityzen74 · 16/09/2021 22:27

I have reported my symptoms to the yellow card scheme. My periods were delayed by both doses of AZ and haven’t been right since. I am 46 so don’t know if this is just normal peri menopause or still vaccine side effects. Period more normal this month (second dose in May)

I am going to now. I've not felt "right" since the vaccine and the fatigue and brain fog are proving hugely debilitating, to the point Im struggling to work. I have a BMI of 20, exercise x 5 per week (or used to, too wiped out now), eat healthily and am pretty fit but feel like it's all disintegrating. The sudden onset of symptoms is pretty suss.

GrandmasCat · 16/09/2021 22:31

My periods have gone from 4 days long to 14 days long since my second dose of AZ. My period came in 10 dats early after the second dose, which is really strange as I was always (like all my life) very regular.

emmathedilemma · 16/09/2021 22:33

No, but I will do know @WineGetsMeThroughIt I was conscious that I should but wasn’t sure where to do it. I’m sick of this womb, I’ve spent the last few years worried about how much it bleeds and now I’m stressing about the lack of bleeding!!

TheFeistyFeminist · 16/09/2021 22:35

I hadn't made the connection but yes, my menopause symptoms have got worse since spring, which could be coincidence or could be related. Fortunately my GP is brilliant and HRT is helping immensely.

Sagaz · 16/09/2021 22:35

No I don't think so. I at the Janssen one shot vaccine. Felt bad later that night at 2am but no other symptoms at all. Not even a sore arm (I'm 51 so I suppose I'm in the menopause. No symtoms though)

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 16/09/2021 22:38

All my friends of 50 had unexpected periods after the jab even after not having any for ages.

Cait73 · 17/09/2021 11:12

I don't have many actual periods now but the 3 I've had since my 2nd vaccine have been awful, I nearly phoned an ambulance last week
