Endometrial biopsy

Posted on another board but also here for more responses.

I had a biopsy taken recently. This was following sudden onset of heavy bleeding, passing of large clots, and a transvaginal scan that revealed a mass in my womb along with a fibroid that I already knew about. I was told I needed a biopsy because of the mass as it looked different to my biopsy. In the notes it said it’s slightly vascular and the size. I’m now at home while await the results which I’m frankly dreading.

Has anyone else been through this?

I have two young children and I’m so scared. I was told about the mass on Friday. I’ve been finding the evenings particularly hard as my anxiety and fears are so much worse.

Sharing my positive outcome here: I had a very similar experience and same symptoms at the beginning of last year (also have two small children). I had my biopsy just before the first lockdown and it took ages to get my results because no one was working, so during that time I was going crazy, worried with stress. Luckily, it came back benign and was just a larger vascular fibroid which I then had removed in November as they weren't offering face to face appointments until then. It seemed to do the trick as my symptoms stopped the next cycle although they are now back again but not as bad and I'm waiting to be referred back to the hospital. I've always had issues with my hormones and I think fibroids can be caused by excess oestrogen, plus I'm fat so have more oestrogen anyway.

I know it's really hard to avoid thinking of worst case scenarios, especially with young children, but wishing you lots of good luck and hopeful you'll have a similar outcome to me

Hi thank you so much for taking the time to respond. It really helps to hear positive outcomes like yours. I’m trying to stay calm and level headed about it but at certain points during the day I find it difficult to manage my anxiety over this and I break down. Evenings are awful as that’s when I dwell on it the most. I haven’t been sleeping well so took a 25mg Nitol tablet when I went to bed and managed to get some sleep which was great. I’ve made an appointment with the GP this morning as well as I still have questions about this. Thanks again
