Hi all sorry posting here for advice as I can’t get through to the hospital phone line!

I have a colposcopy appointment next week but at the same time I’m due to have my copper coil changed over, does it make a difference when I do this? Not sure if I should try get it changed before or after, anyone have any experience with this?

Already feeling a bit Sad about both procedures!

Hey!

Can you get hold of your Gp they might be able to advise you.

I haven't had the coil but I have had a colonoscopy, I can't give you any advise on what your asking but I will say I'm not going to lie the prep is horrible... put some squash in with your prep drink... something orange/yellow in colour or relatively clear (not red or purple/dark colours they stain and can looks like blood in places) it tastes like worse version of lemon lemsip, I found it easier to drink through a straw.

Also found with the food and drink situation stock cubes/bovril with hot water and orange jellies got me through 👍🏻

Ohhh the other one that may help the taste of the prep is mixing it with flavoured clear water!

Sorry I know that's not answered your question but I had a right palava at first with the prep etc and wish I'd known straight away about those bits ❤️

If you'd like to know about the procedure just ask, mine might be a little different but I can give you a rough idea ❤️

Sorry totally realised I read this wrong, disregard my above post I read it as colonoscopy and then realised it was colposcopy after I'd sent it ❤️

Hi, I've recently had a colposcopy and also have a copper coil. When I had mine, the doctor told me that if you need any treatment for abnormal cells, they have to remove the coil as it cuts the threads and then it's tricky to get out. You might not need any treatment, but if you do they will likely try to do it there and then.

For me, they did a biopsy at the first appointment, then treatment at the second. As part of the second appointment she removed my coil, did the treatment, then put in a new coil.

For what it's worth, I was so so stressed about the whole thing but it really wasn't bad at all, and the staff were so kind. Please try not to worry.

@EndoWarriorQueen I keep calling it the wrong thing anyway Grin

@EveryRiver thank you, that’s been really insightful and actually chilled me out about the whole thing! Thanks for the reply X

I'm glad it helped a little. I actually remember thinking at the time, I can't believe I got myself into such a flap about this! Hope it all goes well :)
