Doctor wants to put me on pill For brain fog but I’m at risk of blood clots, advice please

Hi

So for about 9 months now I have been experiencing brain fog pretty badly.
I have had blood tests done before, low iron and folic acid which I was put on high doses of, levels now fine but hasn’t sorted the brain fog.
I have had MRI on my ears to see if anything causes my balance to be interrupted, potentially causing the foggy feeling, that came back fine.
I have been using a b12 oral spray which does help but again doesn’t take it away completely, b12 level is 582.
Doctor now convinced this is a hormone related issue, wants me to go on the pill (I’m 33) doesn’t think peri menopause because of my age and also periods are just as normal as ever have been.
My dad and his brother and sister have all had a stroke so I am high risk, doctor took me off pill years ago and told me not to go on it again.
This doctor is calling me back tomorrow as he thinks there is 2 pills I can potentially safely go on.
Anyone been in this position?
Should I be asking for a gyno referral before am resorting to the pill, hormones have not been tested.

I would appreciate any advice please. I’m worried about the best course of action.

Thanks x

'Brain fog' is such a catch-all for so many symptoms. What exactly does it mean for you?

Is it poor concentration, memory loss, what?

I doubt that the Pill is the answer.

Thanks for reply.

Brain fog for me is fuzzy head feeling, as if been drinking or getting a head cold, that stuffy feeling. Sometimes I feel like when I turn my head it takes my mind a second to catch up. Like I’m not really here if that makes any sense.

Doctor changed his mind on putting me on the pill, seems to think the ones that would help are the ones I would be at risk being on. Now keeping a diary to try see if a pattern forms.

Why doesn't your dr refer you to a neurologist? Your gp sounds a bit confused.

It could be something like silent migraine which can feel as you describe.

I asked for this months ago and was told not until ENT had done their investigations, I have put a request through today to be referred again. I do suffer headaches so could definitely be this. Thanks.
