Ah shit. Sorry if TM1 but when I was at the toilet and wiping, I thought I felt something at my vagina. I checked and when just the top of my fingertip I could feel my cervix.

Thats a prolapse right ?

Fuck. What do I do ? I'm 36 😭

On occasion I've felt a heaviness in my lower abdomen, but I put it down to be due a period. OB hasn't mentioned it, not that we DTD that often (I'm too knackered)

Hi @Skye85
Scrolling through & saw your post.
Can't say I have much advice to give, but have you spoke with your doctor?
Maybe they could refer you to a specialist that can help.
Sorry I'm not much help, I didn't want to ignore x

EmRata95 · 25/08/2021 13:11

Definitely go and see your doctor, however my cervix is really low after having 4 babies and apparently it's all fine so hopefully it's nothing to worry about 🙂

HeartshapedFox · 30/08/2021 22:17

Hi OP!
Your gp should be able to offer some advice and possibly refer you for specialist physio. I had this after my first child and felt exactly the same, really worried, panicking that everything was falling out, but seriously just doing regular pelvic floor exercises - properly - has made a massive difference.
I’ve had to give up jogging but apart from that it hasn’t affected my life at all.
I know it feels awful but hopefully it’ll be manageable for you.

SheWoreYellow · 30/08/2021 22:21

It’s normal to feel your cervix at some times in your cycle.

Jenibluebell · 10/09/2021 21:25

Hi hun if your own Facebook theres a fab support group search for FPOPS UK (female pelvic organ prolapse support) there is over 3k ladies on there and can help and reasure xx

ashleighmeme · 27/09/2021 07:39

I've got prolapse too and I got it young lol like in my early 20s after one baby so your not alone and sadly never too young for this kind of thing if you've had kids or even if you haven't had kids. Pelvic floor exercises really helped me too :) hope your doing alright? Anyone who's had prolapse can understand the panic feeling and depression that comes with it but once you manage your systems life seems bright again x

ArblemarchTFruitbat · 27/09/2021 07:44

I was always able to touch my cervix (when I had one). I don't have children. I had extensive gynaecological examinations prior to my hysterectomy and was never told I had a prolapse. It may be that your cervix is naturally low. I would get it checked by your GP and, as pps have said, start some pelvic floor exercises in the meantime.

frazzledasarock · 27/09/2021 08:09

Go to your GP as a first stop. Get it seen ASAP. I think lots of women suffer prolapses and just quietly suffer in silence till it’s really bad.

As a first off you should be referred to a physio who will teach you exercises hopefully that will sort it out. If not you can be referred to be fitted with a vaginal pessary.

But don’t panic, go to your GP first.

And to pp it’s is not normal to feel your cervix outside your vagina at any time. That’s not normal.

Bit late to the discussion. Skye85 - did you see a doctor? Did they confirm prolapse? Hope you got some good constructive advice as to how to help it.

Can I ask - do you feel any abdominal dull, burning-like pain too, with the prolapse (if that is what you have)? I appear to have a bladder prolapse and it's causing this pain too and I don't know whether that's "normal"...

StrawberrySanta · 29/09/2021 19:37

How does anyone know what type of prolapse it is? I have something I can feel (TMI I'm sorry) poking out, it's kind of pointy...😨 something is definitely there that didn't used to be. I've had 2 kids, youngest is 8months. I had it since after my first child 2.9 years ago (forceps birth).

I mentioned it at my smear test after first baby, she said she thought I might have one but wasn't certain so do lots of pelvic floor exercises. When I was pregnant with DC2 I mentioned it at booking in appointment, then had an appointment with a Dr at the hospital when was about 32weeks preg, she said I didn't have a prolapse?
But I definitely have something there, what else can it be? I don't know whether to go to drs or not , I feel like it's maybe only visible when I'm sat/stood/laid in certain positions and that's why she didn't see it

frazzledasarock · 29/09/2021 21:33

She might not have been able to tell during pregnancy if the prolapse is not ‘that bad’.

Also it’s my experience women's health is always dismissed, so you have to push and insist to get seen.

I have a prolapse and I’m in the process of getting it sorted. I just went in and explained how it was at its worst.
Mine changes sometimes it sticks out very clearly sometimes it doesn’t. Cervix move about depending on your cycle.

You need to be examined properly by someone who knows what they’re looking for and the GP needs to take you seriously.

No wonder women put up with this till it’s really bad, if we get fobbed off so easily.

MissMaple82 · 29/09/2021 21:41

I thought I had a prolapse too once. Similar symptoms. I made an appointment but apparently all was normal. Have you had children? Your bits do change after giving birth
