Tips on how to gain weight

I've never been big, I weighed 9 stone 4 before having my little boy 9 months ago. I went back to my original size fairly quickly and now I've noticed I'm starting to loose too much weight. I'm now down to around 8 stone 6 and now feel so self conscious I just want to be back to my usual weight.

I've also never been a big eater but wouldn't say I've necessarily cut down on eating to lose this weight. In the past whatever I've eaten seems to go nowhere, I don't eat the healthiest of foods but I never really gained weight. However now I'm in a situation where I feel like I could do with gaining some weight as people are starting to notice that I've lost weight, before I even noticed myself 😴

I would keep an honest food diary for a couple of weeks, add up how many calories you’re consuming and if it’s at least what you’re burning then I’d make a GP appointment. It could be an over active thyroid.
To gain weight you want high calorie, low density foods and more protein. Have a look at bodybuilder diets. They’ll eat way more than you need but the types of food they’re eating are what you need to be consuming. Nuts, seeds, eggs, avocado, whole grain carbs, chicken, lean meats, fish…..

I wouldnt worry to be honest. The weight will go back on. I was the lightest I'd ever been after having my ds, I lost loads during pregnancy and then when I was breastfeeding. Was fab for me lol.

It soon returned once I stopped breastfeeding though....sad times!

Agree that you might benefit from things like peanut butter or avocado on toast fir breakfast.

When I was trying to put weight on my GP told me to drink a pint of full fat milk a day.

If you like salmon try eating that once or twice as week as the fats are healthy fats.

Try eating more things like seeds & nuts, whole grain carbs (any kind as long as it’s relatively unrefined), add more natural fats to your diet such as oily fish, avocado, olives, coconut. Cook with butter/ghee, goose fat, coconut oil or avocado oil (they don’t require such significant chemical processing to extract the oil & are heat stable at higher temperatures than vegetable oils).
Also, snack more. Small amounts like a piece of fruit & a dozen almonds, or a yogurt. Ideally minimise processed food like crisps & cereal bars with lots of added sugar.

Are you breastfeeding? I was the lightest I'd been in years 6-8 months after my first child. It went back on
