Endometriosis pain relief

Hello!

Wondering what those with endometriosis take for pain relief?

I've taken mefeamic acid in the past with no benefits.

Now taking naproxen twice a day with zapain 30 mg codeine with paracetamol. It only takes the edge off.

My gp suggested coming off zapain for an antidepressant which works on nerve pain. I know opioids are not ideal but I'm not sure he grasps the debilitating pain issue.

He keeps asking me what my consultant recommended but the consultant says gp to prescribe.

What do you take please?

I'm on narrowed twice a day and tramadol 4 times day. Though they only like me taking tramadol around time the pains at it worse when my period is due ect..

I also use a hot water bottle which I find helps take edge of when pains at its worse.

Codeine 30mg, paracetamol, ibuprofen all n a rotation cycle. I'm prescribed tranexamic acid but I don't find that it helps so don't bother with it now.
Mefenamic was no good for me either.

My usual "go to" is a hot water bottle (one at the front one on my back), I burn with it but that kind of pain is much more bearable than Endo pain. Or a hot hot hot bath, but then I need to lay down after because my blood pressure drops when I get out.

You can get menthol strips for Beyou, they're more of a cooling sensation.

I'm stage 3 and I feel your pain. It's a literal living hell.

You can take NSAIDS. the day before you start too.

Has everyone tried magnesium citrate, not oxide, as a regular supplement? Cramping muscles need magnesium just like striated muscle needs it.

Was it amitriptyline? It’s well tolerated but everyone’s dubious about going on it, it’s used for a few conditions now. It won’t make you feel different as a person.

Hi @Fluffycloudland77

I do take naproxen twice a day due to the back pain I get.

I've had amitriptyline before. It was good when I wasn't a mother but now that I am, it makes night time feeds and wakings ten times worse. It makes me feel hungover the next day which I can't do with two under three.

It's duloxetine he's prescribe. I'm not against trying it., do people manage without pain relief too because I'm not sure I can..

Try it, because then you can say you’ve given it a shot.

If it doesn’t work you need to be firm with the dr about long term management, especially if you’ve completed your family.

Do try magnesium though, I know it sounds a bit woo but magnesium levels in modern food are low. When dh was on a cardiac ward they gave him magnesium & I've kept him on it. His blood test showed low levels.

I’ve got a heated throw, pretty sure I have an adhesion on the nerve supplying the knee/front of thigh & it really soothes the area. It’s a faux fur one from dreamwell, it holds more heat next to the area. My dr said she’s never heard of knee pain from it or vomiting on the morning of your period 🙄

Hi all

Just looking for some information from those who have been diagnosed with endo. Did you ever get any pain with exercise? Whenever I run/bike intensely, I get awful period-like cramps even when I'm not due on. Today this actually led to bleeding for a few hours and now I'm totally drained. I've got a doctors appointment next week (as long as it still goes ahead as we're currently in lockdown) so I'm just wanting to hear other people's experiences please?

I don't get particularly painful periods but I did as a teenager, nor are they particularly heavy. The pain when exercising is my only symptom.
