Can I be denied a c section?

Can I be denied a c section? I have read a lot about women being denied c sections as their preferred choice of birth. After my first child was born I ended up with 3 prolapses, lost over two pints of blood from haemorrhaging and was spoken to and treated like shit off the midwives especially the head midwife. I honestly don't want to do a natural delivery again for my second and would quite honestly rather shit in my hands and clap. I want another baby and me and DP are going to try within the next year but the fear is crippling!

Hey,

I'm pretty sure that they can't deny you one. You may have to be firm with them, but if you explain the reasons as to why you want a planned c section they can't refuse it.

One of my friends had one because she was TERRIFIED of childbirth even though it was her first. They didn't deny her!

Your reasons seem absolutely justified as well so I don't blame you for it! I had an emergency c section with my little boy and if I ever had another I might opt for a planned c section because the labour / birth was so traumatic!

You can be denied one but you have the right to ask for one and to be transferred to see another consultant if the first one denies you one.

Given your history though, I would’ve thought you have an almost certain chance of getting one

@2020firsttimemum Awh that's so good to hear, it must just depend on the doctor/midwife I get and hopefully they will be understanding. Yup birth can be absolutely horrific and it really annoys me that they explain all the risks of a c section but not of a natural delivery... probably because c sections are £700 more expensive than natural. Now I have life long issues with my pelvic floor and will probably need surgery in the future to fix the mess they caused by forcing me to birth on my back and an unnecessary episiotomy. I feel like I'll never trust any health care professional again x
