How do I get my GP to listen to me about possible hypothyroid?

I believe I have hypothroidism. I have been struggling with lots of symptoms for 10 years now, starting after I had my first child. I had a blood test maybe 6 years ago, I was told it was in the normal range and told to lose weight and then dismissed.
Well, I lost the weight in less than a year. Symptoms were still the same. I put the weight back on. Symptoms persisted. I'm currently losing the weight again and symptoms are still the same.

I am so tired all the time. The brain fog is affecting every aspect of my life, including my job. My hairloss is ruining my confidence. No libido, mood swings (mostly low mood), muscle aches and soreness that I feel in my bones whether I exercise or not, I've noticed my voice is becoming hoarse, my periods are insane - very heavy, last a long time, sometimes get 40+ days between them, other times it's only 2 weeks. I can sleep 12 hours and still wake up exhausted. I just tick so many smptom boxes.

Even if it's not hypothyroidism I still feel like something is not right with me. I can't go the rest of my life feeling this awful. There are days where I can barely function enough to do basic things.

I have most of your symptoms, I have pcos my thyroid has been checked. It's exhausting.

I have had these symptoms, so many sympathies Flowers

I still haven't got to the bottom of it really. There are three possibilities:

Under active thyroid.

Peri-menopause / menopause.

A fatigue syndrome.

(I have all three 😱 but don't know the ratio and what's really causing what, iyswim)

I would ask for a blood test for your thyroid function - but please try to insist on a full panel with antibodies. Under 45 years, you could also have a FSH hormone blood test. And inflammatory markers.
