On various meds but still having periods

I have Depo Provera injections, am having monthly Zoladex implant for ablation prep and am taking Tibolone hrt due to side affects of the Zoladex, and am still having periods. Though not as heavy as before, they have moments of flooding, clots, but they are painful which they never were before. I have been bleeding on and off for the past 4 weeks, last Monday was the worst day and had to change a nighttime towel every half hour or so for about 5 hours. This morning, though not as bad, has been heavy again, with clots, and low pelvic pain on my left side and back pain on the same side.
I am having the Zoladex as I said for ablation prep, which after doing more research I don't want to have now. I do have fibroids, one which is being shaved during the ablation, and a polyp which will be removed at the same time. I really thought with all these meds I'm taking, that I wouldn't really get periods anymore, or not as bad.
I don't really know what I am asking, just fed up with my body behaving this way, and I guess wondered if anyone else is on the same meds and having any different symptoms or even the same.

I totally sympathise with you, I'm loosing the will with my womb!! Had my fibroids treated last year and a few months later the bleeding started getting heavy with flooding again. Had an MRI check up and it was confirmed they've been successfully embolised but my womb has only shrunk a bit and is still classed as "10-12 weeks". Ablation is an option but I am a bit scared of the Zoladex injection that would be required beforehand so I'm trying the progesterone only pill in the meantime but I'm nearly at the end of my 2nd month and have been bleeding for 4 of the last 5 weeks!! Thankfully it's been quite light but i'd also quite like it to stop before I have to take out shares in tampax!
Previously had a mirena (it made things worse and eventually bled itself out!) and the combined pill gave me a migraine.
I'm so frustrated, I don't understand how my body seems to be so resistant to the meds!

@emmathedilemma apologies for taking so long to reply to you.

I am more frightened of the ablation (to the point I'm not going to have it) than the Zoladex injections. They are a bit sore, but the nurse said some people use a cold pack on their stomach before the injection. I don't, it's just a bit ouchie for a second for me.

How did you have your fibroid treated? Was it a Myoectomy?

I had the same experience with the Mirena. Didn't stop the bleeding then 5am one morning after having it for a few months it fell on the bathroom floor! I wrote it on my phone just in case I thought I dreamt it.

However, I had a bit of a lightbulb moment this morning and wondered if my current issues are in fact to do with having the AZ vaccination almost 6 weeks ago. I'm having bouts of spotting to the point I think it's about to stop and then bam sudden flooding! I've had this happen ending for the past three or so weeks.

Same here. I'm 54 and have been having very heavy flooding periods for as long as I can remember now.

I have fibroids which are the most likely cause of it and which were meant to have been shrunk by the mirena coil. Which didn't work. The bleeding got even worse and when I had it removed after 13 months an ultrasound scan showed that far from shrinking, they had even grown. That thing was shit and I won't be having another.

I'm currently on a six month course of Zoladex injections in an attempt to finally try and tip me into a medical menopause. If this doesn't work I will push hard for a hysterectomy.

My first Zoladex injection was a week ago. Today I have started bleeding significantly again. Flooding. I had a hospital appointment earlier this morning and had to wear a tena lady pull-up nappy to ensure I could manage.

I had my first Astrazeneca vaccine at the end of February (and bloody hell, my March period was an absolute haemorrhage that didn't stop for a couple of weeks or longer). Second dose was end of April. May's period very heavy again, but less than March's.

I have my third hysteroscopy on 28th July, so hope to find out more then, if not before.

Why does NOTHING seem to work for me? Why does my uterus and ovaries seem so resistant to going into menopause, either naturally or medically induced? It's not fair!!

Just venting a bit, and offering everyone here some sympathy and solidarity too.

Also, why oh why do they still seem to keep mentioning the bloody mirena coil at every opportunity? No!! Tried that for over a year and it was a bad experience. I don't have any wish to repeat it thanks!

Hope you all come to some suitable resolution soon too.

I had my fibroids treated with Uterine Artery Embolisation. That's been successful as I had a follow up MRI which confirmed the blood supply to them has been cut off. But my womb has only shrunk by about 20% and the bleeding started getting heavy again after about 6 months. It's the side effects of the Zoladex that I wasn't keen on.
I spoke to the one of the GPs last week about the ongoing bleeding with the pill and she said there's nothing to suggest it's not medically normal and to wait to see how it settles if I'm happy to keep taking them. I couldn't believe she was still mentioning a mirena as an option after my last experience!! Are they are commissioning for fitting the blooding things??

Topseyt · 02/06/2021 13:30

@emmathedilemma I am really beginning to wonder too if they are all on some sort of commission to keep fitting bloody mirena coils. Even when the method failed so spectacularly recently and I made crystal clear that not only was I mightily relieved to be rid of it, but that I would definitely NOT be having another.

I hope they don't push it again at my next hysteroscopy in July. The answer will remain NO!!

I wonder if they all have shares in Bayer.

emmathedilemma · 02/06/2021 13:32

I'm sure they must @Topseyt that and the fact that hopefully they fit it once and don't see you again for 5 years. I honestly couldn't believe it when she mentioned it, even though it wasn't my regular GP just a skim through my notes would have shown her how many times i'd been back about the damn thing!

longtompot · 02/06/2021 13:40

I was 'suggested' the Mirena so many times over the years, that I eventually decided to get over the ick factor and have it fitted. But, after the months of the bleeding not stopping and in fact I think I was bleeding in between periods, and then it coming out, I will never have another one. I have read several times that they are paid for fitting them.

I had some side affects from the Zoladex, namely night sweats, being unable to sleep and waking far too early, and stinging during sex so started the hrt they have me a prescription for and that has really helped. I still get too hot sometimes, but it's not affecting my sleep quite as much.
I really want to go straight to whip it all out, but after reading someone's experiences on here this morning I'm not sure.

Ah, the numerous return visits to the GP about the mirena. That was one of the other big things I hated about it.

They tell you when putting it in that if you don't get on with it it can be removed at any time. Then when you go back because it is causing more problems and solving none they are reluctant and want you to keep giving it more time. Indefinitely, it seems.

I hated being reliant on someone else to get rid of it for me. Someone who was usually reluctant. I won't be putting myself in that position again.

Bargebill19 · 02/06/2021 13:48

I had the same op. Tried everting offered and no luck. Fibroids, Endo, adhesions, cysts and a burst ovary.
Radical hysterectomy was the best thing to have happened. Do not be fobbed off.
I remember saying to several male DR, that if a man was bleeding non stop for nearly a year from his penis, couldn’t work or stay awake for more than an hour at a time - surgery would most definitely have happened.
They finally agreed.
