Periods - passing clots size of my palm

Meena2020 · 11/05/2021 22:41

For the pas 2 months I have been passing massive clots, bigger than the size of a golf ball.

I have a history of heavy bleeding during my but never had clots like that before. I'm worried I'll pass out when my next period come.

For the past year and half I had ultrasounds, an MRI and a laparoscopy done. Everything came back normal.

I tried to call my GP surgery so that they can do a quicker referral to the gynecologist but they are completely useless.

I just don't know what to do. I have been crying all day today because I feel like nobody wants to help me.

A photo warning would have been nice. I would definitely keep on at the GP, they need to be on this.

WouldBeGood · 11/05/2021 22:47

I got a private appointment with a gynaecologist who was brilliant, referred me back to her within the NHS as they’d failed me; gave me an ablation, and my life back. Best £150 I’ve ever spent. If you can scrape up the cash I’d recommend that.

It’s just awful 💐

Swifey40 · 11/05/2021 22:47

You need to be seen, I have and have had exactly this. Call the gp again and if no joy then call 111 and explain. (I have endometriosis, ovarian cysts and other joyous things). Good luck and keep pushing to be seen.👍

Are you able to send the GP that photo? I have to fill out an econsult form to contact my dr's and you can attach pictures to that. How are you feeling otherwise, I pass smaller clots than that, but hourly for 24-48hrs and it makes me feel quite dizzy and a bit sick.

A friend of mine passed clots she described as being the size of her hand. She had investigations that found no sinister cause for them, so she had the mirena coil fitted which really has helped.

ShanghaiDiva · 11/05/2021 22:50

I had a similar problem and ended up severely anaemic so do get your iron levels checked.
I had the mirena fitted and that solved the problem as no more periods.

CassTheFox · 11/05/2021 22:57

Gosh you poor thing Flowers

I hope this isn’t an insensitive question but you say it’s the last 2 months.. could you have had a miscarriage? I had one at 11 weeks and passed large clots very similar to that, then my first period after the miscarriage passed the same size clots.

I hope you get seen and looked after soon x

whatacarryon2018 · 11/05/2021 23:18

@CassTheFox I was thinking exactly the same thing.
I had the same experience as you. In fact; I was still passing some clots on month 3.

CrotchetyQuaver · 11/05/2021 23:24

How old are you, could it be perimenopause?

Have you read the following, there are a number of things they can do to help you.
Get your iron/ferritin levels checked too.

Meena2020 · 11/05/2021 23:24

No, no possibility of miscarriage. I haven't had intercourse for years.

Thanks all for your messages.

I can't take any hormones due to an unrelated health condition.

I'll try to contact the gp again tomorrow. It is just tiring to have to explain myself each time.

Hope it goes well, come back and update 🙂

I'm in my late 20s

Your a bit young for this....best to tell gp you want a second opinion...asap

omgwhy · 11/05/2021 23:59

Keep hounding your GP, are you in pain? More than usual?

This shouldn't be ignored at all.

Meena2020 · 12/05/2021 09:26

I have been having pain during my period for the past 3 years. The pain doesn't feel any worse though.

Just updating the post in case it helps someone in future. I sent the pictures to my GP and they told me to go to Emergency. My blood test came back normal.

They organised an emergency gynecology appointment this weekend.

I can't help but think that contraception is the only thing that can help me but I'm not allowed to take it due to my risk of stroke.

I hope this gets resolved as heavy bleeding is very debilitating. I had fibroids and endo and it grated surgically. It’s been life-changing. I know it’s even more stressful when no cause has been identified. I hope you get a second opinion. It can be treated.

Meena2020 · 13/05/2021 08:30

Thank you Smile

Oh, good luck @Meena2020

I really hope you get it sorted.
