Hi
If pelvic floor exercises aren't improving things what is the next step?
What will they say will happen next?

Hiya... I hv this and I've tried the exercises too my muscles are really weak..
I've tried the bladder Botox injections which they inject loads into your bladder under GA for most it works
The last resort is surgery but that's if you hv completed your family as can't hv kids after surgery is done..
The surgery works but they do that after trying other things and if you hv completed your family..

So maybe you could ask about the bladder Botox injections.. xx

ok thank you
i didn't know you had to have finished your family to have surgery.
i'm single anyway not sure if i'll have more....
At the minute she's just asked me to try the pelvic floor excercises which haven't worked so i've got a follow up appointment.
i hate it

I had an op with tvt tape which cured my stress incontinence but I understand the tape is banned now due to many women having complications.

The route was;
Six week post-partum checkup showed prolapse and stress incontinence
Consultant appointment
Six months of physio
Urodynamics
Referred for surgery
Put on cancellation list
Surgery three months later
12 weeks off work
Post-surgical consultation

All in all it took about 2 years.

I was advised that I could have more children but they would need to be vis c-section

SuperSange · 07/05/2021 20:30

I had the surgery and nothing was said about no more children?

purpleme12 · 07/05/2021 21:22

Is six months of physio just the same as normal pelvic floor exercises @noeffingway?
or something different?

gosh 2 years is a long time to wait isn't it
although it's been almost a year since i first rang my doctors and i haven't been referred to hospital yet so would probably be longer for me even!
i left it too late really - when i used to bring it up twice at my old doctors years ago they just used to say it's normal and i gave up and thought maybe it is normal. but it got worse. i should have gone before it got to this stage. but i didn't know you could ask to be referred to a urinary nurse til i posted on here about it.

Have you tried any of the exercisers or stimulators rather than just doing 'normal' kegals? Just an idea but know people have said they have had great results.

purpleme12 · 07/05/2021 21:35

no i haven't tried those. i was waiting for my follow up appointment really for what they say is the next step.
i have a feeling she might refer me to hospital person next?
bit worried about having a go at other stuff without knowing what i'm doing

I’m afraid my memory is very dim, but I did read about a one-of-a -kind course of treatment at a private clinic in Surrey (I think). If I got this right, you just sit on the special chair, and your pelvic floor muscles got some kind of electrical stimulation, which tightens them all up for you. Must be a bit like Slendertone, I imagine! I can’t remember how many sessions it takes or anything else I’m afraid. TBH it sounded too good to be true, but the journalist who’d written the article was impressed with the results. Drawback is the cost - unfortunately a good couple of thousand pounds.

It was different in that they assessed my pelvic floor strength (rubbish) and then taught me how to do pelvic floor exercises properly and gave me exercises. They also used an electric sensor to measure the muscle response, and very occasionally she would put a finger in to test me out! Aside from feeling embarrassed, it was really useful and by the end I could squeeze her finger tightly!!

Still incontinent though so hence the surgery.

purpleme12 · 08/05/2021 00:07

Ah right ok i hope they do all these things for me then
i really can't cope with this
i should have gone there sooner but honestly i don't think i had the knowledge to
