Gynae or endocrinologist? 14 day cycles (depo)

Hi all, just looking for advice. I’m in a country where I have only access to private healthcare and I book appointments direct with the appropriate specialist and I don’t know who to see. Appointments are thin on the ground so don’t want to waste time and money seeing the wrong person, so just looking for advice from anyone in the know. Cycle/fertility issues, would it be a gynae or endocrinologist as first port of call? No reason to suspect fibroids or endometriosis, had a scan at the same time as the depo and no issues were seen other than known PCOS. I’ve asked the hospital but not had a response and can’t get through on the phone.

I don't understand what the issues are. Have you had the depo injection at some point? It affects cycles and can delay return to fertility for up to a year or sometimes longer. Depo made me bleed all the time and I put on loads of weight

Sorry, I wasn’t clear, I rewrote the post as I have a tendency to waffle and missed some info out! I had a depo shot back in March 2020 as a one off. Spotted continuously for 5 months, saw the GP and got prescribed progestin to kickstart a cycle. Cycles have been more or less 14 days since then, periods lasting about 8 days so I’ve spent most of the last year bleeding and no sign of cycles sorting themselves out.

The depo was an emergency measure at the beginning of lockdown and I wasn’t advised the fallout could be so spectacularly shit. We’re TTC but I’m clearly not ovulating.

I want to see someone to try and get cycles reestablished but not sure which specialty it would fall under.

Endo with gynae speciality if you are sure it’s being caused by depo and nothing structural.

Thanks Milo I’ll try the endo first. No idea if they have any sort of gynae specialty but will see when I get there I guess!

@Momosapien You need a gynaecologist.
Endo deal with everything even diabetes, so you need someone who is an expert in women's hormonal issues. Ideally you need a gynae who is a fertility specialist.

Thanks Leila. I guess not much wiser than I was before then! I’ve booked with gynae though as no appointments for endo in any case.
