Confusion over breast biopsy

I'm at high risk of getting breast cancer. An MRI found a small lump and I had a biopsy, followed by a letter confirming that the lump was benign. The hospital called me back for a vacuum assisted biopsy which I had last Friday and told me that they don't know whether the lump is benign. They said it's indeterminate hence the need for another biopsy. I was never told this before, they just said previously that the vacuum assisted biopsy was to get more information. Surely this isn't normal to be told it's benign, then to be told they're not sure. Has anyone had any experience of this? Can anyone just offer a hand hold please? My breast is black and blue and really painful as well.

I have recently had surgery for breast cancer. When I had the initial biopsy I was told it was grade one. When I saw the surgeon before the op he explained that as they could only test the small piece taken in a biopsy there was a possibility that when they removed the whole tumour the grade would change as it could be a certain grade in one area and a different grade in another area. Could this be the case with yours do you think? The small piece they took in the biopsy is benign but to be completely sure they need to check more of it. I would be reassured by the fact they are acting swiftly and not leaving anything to chance. Good luck, when do you get the result?

Sorry to hear about your difficult experiences. Did this happen in NHS?
