Hello all, I'm 23 years old and I want to reach out to see if anyone got help or advise me as I'm at wits end with this all now, sorry this may be a long post.
I have a 4 year old boy who will 5 in April, and around 6 months after he was born I started experience brown thick blood continuously back to back where I'd bleed brown up to my period date have period then when I come off I would start bleeding brown again, so on and so forth, I went to my doctors and was referred to a gynaecologist where I had numerous tests including ultrasound blood tests etc and everything come back ok and was told its fine brown blood is normal, anyway it seemed to start dying down so left it. and just it every now and then Then just over a year ago it started again properly but this time I am not having my periods and just continuously bleeding brown, I would have a period once in a blue moon ( I could count how many times I've had a period on one hand) I was referred to a gynaecologist again, under went a ultrasound and they discovered tiny cysts on my ovaries. I am also experiencing extreme pain round the whole of my lower back round to underneath my ribs and my lower stomach, to the point the no pain killers has helped and have been prescribed tramadol. Along with that it's now starting to hurt me when having sex. I have asked for a smear test this time to rule that out. But I am just wondering if anyone has had any experiences of this, as I am not seeming to get anywhere with specialist I just keep getting fobbed off and get told brown blood is normal, I'm just at my wits end with this all. Thank you for reading- sorry for the long post.

Hi I’m so sorry you are going through this and having so much pain. I haven’t experienced brown blood, but the pain you are describing sounds exactly what I went through with fibroids. Go back to your doctors and refuse to leave until they refer you for further tests.

Along this could I always add that I’ve been trying to conceive for 2 and half years and have had 3 miscarriages.

Sorry to hear this @courtm
Thanks just trying to bump your post I didn't want to read and run.

If you were on a coil or long term birth control I could possibly understand the bleeding (not the pain!)

Definitely sounds as if you need better medical care and advice

Thank you for your comment- I was only on the pill which was microgygan for a short while I would say a year max when I had my son and haven't taken any contraception since. I'm just at my last thither with it all, I don't what else it will take for someone to listen and properly investigate

After three miscarriages you would normally have investigations into possible causes. What has this shown?

I haven't been investigated yet, due to covid I haven't managed to see anyone it's all been other the phone and just like last time I am just getting fobbed off and don't seem slightest bit interested in properly investigating. I am finally seeing a gynaecologist on Tuesday, after countless complaints etc

Good luck with seeing the gynae on Tuesday, write down anything you want to ask this person well ahead of time. NO question is daft. I would concur that you do need better medical care and advice. You will need to be persistent in order to get answers. If you have to date kept a pain and symptom diary bring this with you.

Deep pain during sex can be indicative of endometriosis being present and the pains and brown blood may also point to that too. A condition called polycystic ovaries may account for the multiple cystic follicles seen on the ultrasound scans (PCOS can also lead to a higher risk of miscarriage).

Ultrasound scans and blood tests will not detect endometriosis if it is present; that is usually diagnosed via a keyhole surgery op called a laparoscopy.
