Stress incontinence

I’m fed up now.
I’m under the women’s physio and she’s asked me to go in to see her now as there’s no improvement with pelvic floor exercises.
But now I seem to be leaking. Not constant, just occasionally.
Has anyone done anything that has actually worked ?

Sorry Diana, sounds like I’m at the same point as you- the whole mesh scandal seems to have put a stop to progress in this area I think. I was thinking of trying those thigh things that are supposed to help, trying not to go down the route of pads Confused

I’ve been doing pelvic floors for years with no improvement.
The physio advises me to buy those vaginal weights, they just dropped out and that made me feel worse, so she said stop.
I do use pads when I’m working, just to stop any smell.
I’d love to know if the thigh things actually work.

I've only just started to experience this (I'm 45). Like you say it's not all the time and small amounts (damp pants). I'm worried about the smell and wondered if there was anything I can do to help.

I was hoping someone would say the ‘O’ shot, or some similar simple procedure, was a miracle cure and my problems would be solved !

Oh my god I'm just joining the thread in hope and solidarity
I'm really worried I won't be able to get better

I’ve heard hypopressive exercise is remarkable, but I’ve not done it consistently myself. It definitely helped a bit, I must start it again. I came across it on Instagram.

I had this, it seemed at times that I hardly went out at least not without checking where all the loos were. And may or may not have, but I believed that I smelt of stale pee & so was very convinced that others could too.
Because of other back issues I was having a physio massage me & we chatted about pelvic support/ligaments etc. & she referred me to a pelvic physio which some of you have mentioned too above.
I also saw a specialist surgeon around this time who deals with bladders & stuff - I had to have a urodynamic test - so embarassing - but he was able to gauge the pressure in my bladder after filling it with lots of fluid.

This all confirmed my years of stress incontinence & I had surgery for a urethral sling but using tissue from my abdominal wall rather than mesh. Thank goodness now knowing all the news about that.

The surgery was maybe 7 or 8 yrs ago & I think pretty successful. My surgeon did advise that because of using my own body tissue it probably wouldn't last for ever. But I dont need pads at all, a very occasional leak but more urge incontinence now like as you're unlocking the door after being out, & you have to go right NOW 🙂

Do keep asking for referrals & support. I dont think you should have to live your life around a weak bladder spending loads of ££ just because a larger baby or a longer labour has weakened your muscles. All the best Flowers
ps I'm not in the UK by the way

I really, really want to avoid surgery. I’m aware that I could end up worse off.
