Coil, threads, menstrual cup

Would love some advice please!
I used a menstrual cup for a short time in my 20s but found it too much of a faff so ditched it.
After two babies and having the copper coil fitted I decided to give it another go as my periods have returned extremely heavy.
After using it for the first time today I remembered I have the coil and freaked out! A quick google says that it should be fine, be cautious taking it out, make sure to break the seal etc, and check the strings after each cycle.
I must admit that I haven't tried very hard to check the strings, mainly because i have only recently started my periods again since my last baby and the GP had said the best time to check is after your period. However, when I have tried, I can never feel them! My cervix is slightly tilted and hidden away, for the first time today I could actually feel my cervix but still not the strings. So my first question is does anybody have any tips to feel for the strings??
And my second question is whether I should be using the cup yet... I've basically had it fitted a year but this is only my second cycle as my periods have only just returned. I read that you should wait for two cycles before using the cup as your body is more likely to expel the coil during those first two cycles. As I've had it a year before my cycle even returned should I be using the cup yet or should I give it a miss for this period (my second cycle)?
Argh so confused! Lying in bed currently debating whether to go to sleep or get up and take the damn thing out 🙈
Thanks to anyone who read until the end! :)

If you really can't feel the strings at all I'd see if you can get it checked at your GP, I had an issue with my coil a few months ago and there was no problem having a dr check it for me despite Covid etc.
I also use a menstrual cup and I've always just used it as normal, not made any adjustments for having a coil in, it's not been an issue. But if it's stressing you out just use pads for this period maybe until you've had the coil checked?

Thanks for the response :) well I haven't moved from my bed and still have it in so may leave it in for the night but then reassess how confident I feel using it tomorrow! That's interesting that you got yours checked, I'll wait until my period has finished and give the GP a call if I still can't feel them. I assumed they wouldn't see me as when I googled one of the things that came up was from a sexual health clinic saying that they wouldn't check coils during COVID! I guess everywhere will decide for themselves.
Good to know you've been using yours with no issues :)

Hopefully yours will be fine too, I'm sure it's pretty rare for them to come out :)
Yeah mine was checked because I'd had some associated pain, don't know if that's why the GP agreed to see me or not, but I think if you suspect the coil has moved/strings have disappeared that they SHOULD see you as it can become dangerous, so I'd just ham that up slightly on the phone and hopefully someone will see you :)
I got to see the GP and also have an ultrasound at the hospital, so I was surprised but pleased they were still doing things like that, I think it was back in November some time.
Good luck!

@tumtitum I’ve been having issues with my coil so after putting it off for ages because of covid, I phoned the gp and the Advanced Nurse Practitioner is calling me tomorrow to discuss my problems. But she did say that if she’s concerned I’ll be given an appointment to attend the surgery and have my coil checked. So, give them a call if you really cannot feel your threads. But, I’ve found it fascinating how the cervix changes position before, during and after a period so you may find it easy to feel your threads once your period ends.

@ExTeacherNowJustMom that is interesting, thanks!! I think I may have felt the threads this morning so we will see!!! I really definitely don't want any surprise Covid babies 😂😂😂
