Non painful breast lump

HI, I'm 37 and currently breastfeeding my 9 month old. I found a lump last week and visited GP. After examining me she made a referral to the breast clinic but explained there are delays due to covid.

I've been referred previously but the lump was very big and painful which I knew wasn't usually associated with cancer so I didn't worry.

This time it is about the size of a large pea and painless. I think I feel extra vulnerable and emotional due to the young age of my son. I'm scared and already feeling isolated due to pandemic. I don't feel I can tell my parents as I don't want to worry them- my aunt developed breast cancer in her 30s. It later returned and spread and she died in her early 40s.

Any advice, similar experiences or hand hold?

It's scary having these kinds of things, and obviously I have no idea what yours could be. I have had lumps checked out three times and they have all been types of cysts. Does it move a little if you push gently around it? I was told that's a good sign. Your GP will pretty much always refer you on for further checks so it doesn't mean that they were alarmed at what they saw.

Sorry, and yes mine were about that size and painless also.

I'm sorry about your aunt.

I had one that sounds similar - it was a cyst. Had it drained and it never came back. That was about 16/17 years ago.
Wishing you all the best x

My cyst was completely painless! I have various ones of all sizes… I had one drain but it was a proper giant.

@Pastnowfuture I’m in the same position at the moment - have an appointment at the breast clinic on the 19th and have a small firm pea sized painless lump. I’m extremely anxious about it and have found the best thing to do is to try not to let myself sit and think / google. But then I have moments where I spiral and imagine having to tell my DCs I am seriously ill. The unknown is very frightening isn’t it! I hope you get your appointment soon x

I don't know why I didn't get notification of comments until just now
@mistletoeandsigh it does move a little yes so that's reassuring.

@Skyliner001 Glad to know painless doesn't automatically mean it's something to worry about.

@Pipperleen Thank you.

@Iyiyi Sorry you are going through the same thing. Just like you said I try not to think about it but every so my mind drifts into worry mode and it's hard to pull myself out of it.

I had a call this morning giving me an appointment slot on 26th but they rang back later to offer me a cancellation on the 17th. I was really pleased as Just want it out of the way.
