My Mum used to swear by frozen melon and frozen raspberries to get rid of the metallic taste in her mouth after her chemo sessions. Good luck!

Different drugs do different things. Do you know what specific drugs you will be on OP?

@Hugs65 under general health there is a thread called 'Cancer support thread 77 newbies welcome'.
It's a very welcoming and friendly site.

Im waiting for my oncologist appointment to discuss chemo.

Hi OP. Chemo can cause nausea (it’s given with anti-sickness) so ginger is good (ginger biscuits etc) You may also find you are more sensitive to smells, so avoid perfumes etc and ask anyone to live with to do the same. Avoid food with a strong smell like smoked food/eggs. Your sense of taste may alter so you may find food and drink that you usually like unappealing. It’s common to go off tea for example. You will need to drink well to flush it so have a water bottle to hand and sip on it. If you are having IV chemo, it can be tricky to insert a cannula if you are cold, so wear gloves to keep your hands warm. Some chemo can take a few hours so dress for comfort and take a book/magazine/tablet. I have one lady that brings her own blanket but we have plenty. Tops with loose sleeves are good. Avoid tights in case an ECG is needed (that’s not common.) Hope all goes well.
