Hey. Can anyone recommend a private vulval specialist in London or close by? I'm also willing to travel for the right person. Been struggling for over 1.5 years following an over-treated thrush infection. It's a long story, but looking for specialists who would be familiar with cytolytic vaginosis/vulvodynia/potential vulval skin disorder. Any recommendations based on positive experiences would be appreciated.

Really you need to see Wendy Reid at 132 Harley St. She was supposed to have given up private practice a couple of years ago to go back to the NHS full time but her details are still on the website. Give 132 a call and see who they would recommend if she’s not available.

Thank you both!

Can’t help but just want to wish you well. I had vulvodynia for 7 years and it is really hellish and stressful and not very understood. Can’t really say what helped, seemed to go after having my son (which traumatised my bits in another way so maybe that helped 😄). Saw someone at Roehampton for months but didn’t seem to help much. Amitrptyline, lidocaine to re-train the nerves etc but it sounds like you’re past all that by now.

I came on to recommend Wendy Reid as well. Amazing lady and with knowledge second to none. I'm sure she can recommend someone if she no longer practises privately.

Thanks again. I took a look at that Harley street clinic website and they indeed mention Wendy Reid. However, when I tried to book an appointment, the option is not there and she is not in the consultants list (vulvar disorders). Will try and call them tomorrow, but I don't have high hopes.

It should be possible to get a referral to the specialist vulval disorders clinic at the Royal Free where she still practices.

Another person to try is Fiona Lewis who is a dermatologist specialising in vulvar disorders (Wendy Reid once said to me she was one of the handful of people whose opinion she would trust.) Her NHS practice is at the specialist vulvar disorders clinic at Guys and St Thomas's, (www.guysandstthomas.nhs.uk/our-services/dermatology/specialties/womens-dermatology/referrals.aspx) and the private practice is in Maidenhead: www.bridge-clinic.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/Consultants-List-2018.pdf.

Rahul Nath. Diagnosed and treated my vulvar cancer 2 years ago (Please don’t panic when I say that) and operated on me again last night!

Lovely man. I suggested him to a friend of a colleague with womb problems and they found him very helpful - straight talking but sympathetic.

He consults privately at a range of hospitals, including the Lister and HCA at The Shard.

Good luck!
