Periods stopping at 43

Hi all, I'm 43 and have 2 DS, aged 2 and 6

My periods seem to have stopped - it's been about 3 months now. Categorically I can't be pregnant as DH and I haven't had sex for a while as I had covid earlier last year and struggled for a while to get better and it's left me with no sex drive.

I guess I'm menopausal - I had a go at using ovulation sticks through this month and didn't get a strong positive (although I'm not sure where I'd be in any cycle).

I feel generally off though, anxious and have gained s couple of stone despite a healthy diet and exercise 3-5 days a week. We are in the process of relocating as DHs work have taken covid as an opportunity to sell their centrai office and move everyone to regional hubs. So I'm under a fair amount of stress between selling and buying a house, homeschool, shielding a vulnerable child, and the global pandemic.

Yesterday I felt like my period was starting and (TMI, sorry) saw a few drops of blood so breathed a huge sigh of relief. But it stopped and now, nothing. So, I braced myself and tried to make an e consult appointment as our GP aren't seeing patients, but there's no options for period issues and I'll have to wait till Monday - I have no idea how they'd check anything without seeing me.

It sounds silly, but once relocated we were going to try for baby no 3 (in a just see what happens way as we'd planned to try last year, but held off due to covid, me being made redundant and then DH work consultation)

I suppose I'm just after advice, a handhold or suggestions for anything I could do/ not do that might help. I was wondering about supplements but just don't know.

Only a blood test can tell you what's going on. I had my last period at 40 but early menopause runs in my family so I wasn't surprised.

Thanks @0blio that's what I wondered, hence trying to book an appointment. But I'm not sure how or where it'd happen as our hospital is closed to all bar A&E/ covid and the GP surgery are entirely online/ phone based now. I'm guessing there must be somewhere out of borough

That is early for the menopause OP, but not unheard of, do you know what age your mum went through the menopause? Speak to your GP most appts are triaged now and you may be invited in for an appointment & a blood test. It may be worth doing a pregnancy test, because your GP is bound to ask you, however unlikely. Good luck.

My mum told me that she went through menopause at 42, so it could be that.

Thanks @Roselilly36 mum had a full hysterectomy in her 30s due to endometriosis and was on her so I don't know. Which makes it tricky. Hopefully a homeschool worksheet and toddler nap will line up so I can call on Monday.
