This may be a bit lengthy so please bear with me. I was wondering if anyone had ever had tubal ligation on the NHS at a young age?
I'm 25 (DH is 29) and currently 34 weeks pregnant with our first baby.
I have quite severe endometriosis (I had a laparoscopy in 2019) and PCOS (diagnosed in 2018). I was told after my lap that I would not get pregnant naturally and was offered an injection to essentially put my body into the menopause to try and control the endo symptoms. I suffered with horrific irregular, heavy and long periods before falling pregnant. This baby is our miracle baby - we were so surprised when my period didn't come and I did a test and it was positive. The first few weeks of the pregnancy were incredibly painful (I had a scan at 7 weeks because the pain was so severe and one sided they suspected an ectopic) but luckily baby was in the right place and they then put it down to endometriosis and scar tissue etc stretching so making things more painful than usual.
Since then, I have had a very hard time being pregnant. I am so incredibly thankful and lucky to be pregnant (especially without medical help and to still be young) but it's been hell. I had severe extended morning sickness, I'm in pain 24/7, I can't breathe properly, I can't sleep, I've had numerous water infections (which I was prone to anyway) and I don't want to complain too much because we are going to have our very much wanted baby soon but I have really not enjoyed being pregnant at all.
We do not want any more children after this. One is enough for us and we are glad to be able to have one after thinking we wouldn't have any. I can't have any hormonal contraception (I have a long history of being on contraception since my periods started and nothing has ever agreed with me and often caused more harm and problems) and I don't like the idea of a copper coil as I have read it can make your periods heavier and mine don't need to be any heavier!
Ideally I would like my tubes tied so I don't get pregnant again (if that were possible) and do not need to rely on condoms as a method of contraception for the next however many years. I'm just very aware that I'm still young so may not get "approved" by the NHS for the operation. But would my history as well as the problems I've had in this pregnancy, alongside having a child make them more likely to do it? I'm at a loss of what to do once the baby is born with regards to contraception because I can't have anything!
Thanks in advance if you read this!
