Itchy and sore vagina - sorry!

I've just started having sex again, which has been GREAT, apart from the last time has potentially left me a bit sore and itchy downstairs... actually inside vagina, and after having a look, I can actually see a small cyst (which I think is normal - but I guess it shouldn't be bothersome?) Anyway, also, a couple of hours after having sex I stupidly put on some stupidly tight jeans for a few hours which I think it was mainly responsible for actually creating the itch and soreness... any ideas? Ideally don't want to go to docs for this, just want recs for some cream? No discharge or burning when peeing so have ruled out thrush. Sorry for TMI !! xx

A pharmacist should be able to recommend something - try your local chemist. Hope you get it sorted out.

I wouldnt rule out thrush. I have recourring thrush after sex - I have very senstive skin all over so think it just doesnt make down there happy 😂. Its mostly mild with just a bit of soreness and itching like you describe. I never have burning when i pee with it and have had it confirmed many times via swabs

Vagisil. It's important to remember to wash your hands before using it, particularly when you have chopped up birds eye chillis when cooking dinner. Don't ask! Confused

Multi-gyn acti gel is a good one to use for discomfort. I use it maybe once a week or so to prevent any flare ups.
You should probably get checked out to make sure it's nothing first though.
Btw if you do decide to use this gel it can tingle for a bit but it's normal!

Make sure you use lubrication if required 😁. In the meantime some caneston cream might soothe it. You can get this from most pharmacies. Not sure about the lump

JinglingHellsBells · 18/11/2020 22:00

@ZubinB You really need to be checked for STIs even if you have used condoms if this is a new partner.

Small spots or lumps can be gonorrhea or syphilis. They can go away and you think it's gone when it hasn't and does untold damage.

Go and see a dr and/ or STI clinic.

gottakeeponmovin · 19/11/2020 14:05

It sounds like thrush - did you use a condom? They can sometimes give thrush

ReneeRol · 19/11/2020 14:20

I agree with Jingling, you need an STI check.

JinglingHellsBells · 19/11/2020 14:23

Any symptoms you get after sex with a new partner @ZubinB needs checking out. I really don't know why everyone is saying it's thrush or something minor when it may very well not be. Hmm

Especially when there is a lump/spot/ swelling as well. It's NOT normal to have a cyst of any sort in your vagina, but presumably it's near the entrance unless you can examine yourself high up Grin?

Thanks ladies for all your help and advice! Much appreciated. I went to the docs and she has done a swab, which she thinks is thrush so have treatment for that (pessary/cream). she also noticed a bit of clotting so has referred me for a scan - this might be caused by me taking contraception for the first time in 4 years tho, so hopefully nothing to worry about. She also mentioned a new(ish) contraception called Sayana (an injection you do yourself at home) which she has said I could consider. Let me know if any of you have any experience of this. Thank you once again XX Ps. the cyst is normal she said (it's called Bartholin's and I think we all have them!)

s. the cyst is normal she said (it's called Bartholin's and I think we all have them!)

Every woman has a Bartholin gland (s) but they don't have cysts. if cysts get big- they can get blocked and infected- they can grow to the size of an egg. I've known people with them and they need lancing or ABs.

They are at the entrance to the vagina- on the vulva - not inside the vagina.

Glad you got sorted. (Not sure what you mean about the clotting though .)
