Does this sound like Endometriosis?

Pulling feeling on my left side low down in what I guess would be my ovary type area, also pain on my left side lower back, above my butt cheek area.
I’ve had that pulling feeling in my ovaries before, but never coupled with the back pain.
It’s not excruciating but it’s enough to bother me.
Always had heavy periods, they are actually slightly lighter after having children but I’ve been on and off the pill for years, I’m off it now as the side effects were getting too much (mid 30s)
Something just doesn’t feel right but hard to see the GP at the moment and I suffer with health anxiety so anything I mention will be met with scepticism.

How long have you been off the pill for?

Backpainbetty · 16/11/2020 21:51

About 6 months, but was only on it before then for about 8 months after a years break

I could have wrote this. Always have twinges in left ovary and the back pain above bum cheek!! I have no idea what it is but would be interested to know if you ever get answers!
I started to think the back pain is sciatica maybe

Any recurring pain in that area (that aren't monthly period pains) needs to be checked out. Are you having any extra bleeding? It can't hurt to just make your gp aware, I did and eventually got sent for scans and I had some benign cysts. Good luck!

I'm similar but right side, always had mild symptoms of endo but never thought anything of it, but since MMC in the summer have had almost constant pain. Ended up in A&E at one point for suspected appendicitis! All bloods and urine always come back clear.

Essentially, my GP was next to useless so I referred myself to a private gynae (endo specialist), he suspected endo from initial consultation and description of symptoms/pain, so then had follow up internal exam and TV ultrasound, was petrified that nothing would be found and I'd be stuck in pain forever! He saw that my right ovary is stuck to my uterus, and strongly suspects endo/adhesions so I have a laparoscopy booked 01/12.

See how you get on with GP but initially I think you need a referral to gynaecologist and scans which would pick up any cysts etc., but the only definitive way to determine is through laparoscopy I believe.

Hope you get some answers! x

Endometriosis can also cause heavy bleeding to arise as well as pain. Any pain that is cyclical in nature and or gets worse up to and including menses should be checked out by a gynae to see if endometriosis is present.

You will need to be persistent in order to get answers.

Thanks all,
I’ve always had heavy periods, the pill helped that but I will keep a note of when this pain occurs, it’s still there today but not as bad and I was at the tail end of my period.
