Pea sized lump in breast

Reanne2409 · 16/11/2020 16:53

So I found this lump under the skin on my breast that is maybe a little smaller than a pea. It is underneath the skin but not under any tissue whatever. Me being me I squeezed and picked at it but nothing happened. I don’t know if I want to go GP though as I feel like I’ll be a waste of their time to be told it’s a cyst or something. I’ve had it for about a week now I’d say. It’s not bothering my everyday life or getting bigger. Could it be an ingrown hair or blocked pore. Any home treatment I could do for it? Should I see a GP? Sad

Go and see your GP. Most boob lumps are nothing to worry about but your GP is the person who can make that call. I've been at boob clinic this morning and the team there are really worried about the number of women who have not gone to see their GPs during covid. Please go and see your GP - it's better to be take an appointment and be told it's nothing to worry about than not to go and sit at home worrying

Yes go to GP. I went on Friday due to a suddenly larger left boob, with a kind of lumpy bit (really hard to explain, but different, basically!) GP can’t really tell from an exam but agreed there was something and referred me to breast clinic on a 2 week urgent referral (which did put the shitters up me a bit to be honest, but I’m assured is what they do for all boob stuff). It will hopefully be nothing (for both of us!) but always best to check and catch anything untoward early. Good luck Flowers

Do go. I had a routine mammogram, all very CV-19 safe. Chances are it may be nothing, but it could be something - friend of mine had a pea shaped lump and it was cancer, being pea sized easily cut out, hadn't spread (as got to early), now 22 years clear.

I forgot to add I am 21 years old. You still think it’s serious?

No one I’m an internet forum can say OP, you need to see a doctor to tell you that x

Go to a dr.

Whatever the size of the lump go and get it checked out - even if it was the size of a grain of rice. It will most likely be nothing but it’s not worth risking it actually being something and missing. Make that gp appointment - they should see you quickly and will refer under the 2 week rule if they have any concerns.

I cannot tell if it's serious or not through the internet. But your age is no barrier to illness. I have breast cancer (completely different symptoms to you) and there are some very young women at the clinic I attend.
Go to the GP, get checked out and it is hopefully nothing. If it is something the sooner the better to start and finish treatment. Flowers

@nomorespaghetti how did you appointment go?
@Reanne2409 did you chat to your GP?

nomorespaghetti · 21/11/2020 07:58

@Madvixen I’ve not had it yet... it’s not scheduled for another 2.5 weeks, which will be way over the 2 week wait target! Apparently this is because they’re running a reduced service due to covid Sad but I’ve got a private appointment on Monday evening, as very luckily my Dh has family medical insurance through work.

Reanne2409 · 21/11/2020 12:35

Hi sorry I didn’t update. They said it was something called dermatofibroma which I had never heard before. Just scar tissue that ends up in a knot that I unfortunately will have forever. Thanks for the concern. I didn’t think it was serious but it’s better than staying home crapping yourself xx

Oh I’m so glad you went and got it checked. Really pleased and relieved for you that it was nothing more concerning. Do always get this sort of thing checked out - it’s better to spend a small amount of time getting looked over than spend eons treating something late in the day👍
