Day off for coil removal

Hi

I’ve got an appointment to get my coil removed first thing on Monday. How uncomfortable will I be afterwards? Should I book the morning or the whole day off work? Or would I feel ok to log back on to work as soon as I’m home from the GPs

How was it going in?
I didn’t have any problems, I was just happy to have it out tbh. No worse than a smear for me so I was fine to work. If you are concerned you could take some paracetamol 20 mins before your appointment so that, if things are more uncomfortable, you have had a head start pain control wise.

Having it out is much easier than having it in. About 30 seconds of pain and that's it. You can go straight back to work

angstybaby · 20/11/2020 14:07

I had mine removed with no worries. I put a pad in for a little bit of bleeding but I felt fine and didn't have any cramping.

Literallynoidea · 20/11/2020 14:08

Day off not necessary at all.

ArsenicNLace · 20/11/2020 16:47

I had mine taken out in my lunch hour. No issues whatsoever!

movingonup20 · 20/11/2020 17:14

Took no time, had it before work (surgery opens at 8am)

TheLovleyChebbyMcGee · 20/11/2020 17:15

Yeah just had mine out a few weeks ago, very easy and barely any cramps after, I'd have been fine to do a day of work after

Jen435 · 20/11/2020 17:15

I had mine removed the other day. A brief moment of pain when it comes out, and I had a few cramps afterwards, but worked straight away.

LaceyBetty · 20/11/2020 17:17

I had no pain at all. Had it done on a lunch break and back to work after.

CatchingWind · 20/11/2020 17:32

I was uncomfortable afterwards with cramping and needed a hot water bottle. Removal appt happened to fall on my day off so I had a chocolate and TV day. If I'd been working that day I'd have just cracked on, especially if working from home.

Ffsffsffsffsffs · 20/11/2020 17:34

My first one took way less time to get out than put in, drove myself back to work after lunch break. The second I had a very strange physiological reaction to and had to have a lie down afterwards, but was OK an hour later.

allthingsred · 30/11/2020 17:30

Had mine removed today after 11 years.
Is there any after affects I should watch out for? docs said there shouldn't be as all hormones should have run out. But been giving myself nightmare reading all about heavy bleeding & mirena crash

TickTickClock · 30/11/2020 17:37

It sounds like you're working from home anyway; who will know if you're doing so with a hot water bottle under your jumper (if needed?)

SeptSpiral · 30/11/2020 18:30

Had it out on Monday. Was fine. I had a 20 min sit down when I got home then was back to work
