Weight and stomach

So but of background. I was always a size 6/8 pre pregnancy and was very lucky that I didn't have to watch what I ate not exercise (I took it for granted!)

I was always around 10 and a half stone. Never really gained not lost weight. I'm also 5'9 so I'm tall.

In March 2019 I fell pregnant. I ended up at my heaviest at 13 stone. Gave birth to a healthy baby boy (7lb) in January 2020. I was very ill and had sever postnatal depression. I stopped eating entirely and was breast feeding i then was put onto mirtazipine (antidepressant) and basically struggled badly but I've come through the other side. A side effect of these tablets is weight gain. I ate and ate and ate - it was fantastic to have an appetite. Since then I've come off my tablets and been off them for 6 weeks now. I now have a "normal" appetite and not eating too much and I'm exercising daily (granted not for long as I have a baby to attend to) the thing is I still look pregnant and my stomach is firm it doesn't feel "fat" does anyone know what could be going on?

Was that taken at end of day when bloating at it’s worse?

Looks like bloating after a big meal to me

discodave88 · 18/11/2020 09:05

No. It was taken first thing when I got up. It's like this before and after a meal and basically all the time. It never goes. I always look bloated which is why I think something is up

I think it's basically fat. My belly can look almost like that if I'm a few pounds over my ideal weight as that's where it goes.

How much do you weigh now? Can you cut back a bit?

discodave88 · 18/11/2020 23:07

I weigh 11stone 11 so I'm over a stone more than when I was pregnant. The only way I could cut baxk at the minute would be to entirely stop eating. I don't have breakfast which I know I'll get shouted at for. I eat fruit and a yogurt for lunch then meat and veg for dinner and I've cut out sugar, snacks and fizzy pop.

I know I put a lot of weight on due to the medication and I was told this. I've also never had an inch of fat on me. So it's all just new to me. I know it's not even a year since I had my baby or a month since I've come off my drugs but if I know what I'm dealing with I can exercise more. I've been doing sit ups and if it is diastole recti it can make it worse so I want to do the right type of exercise

Your tummy may never be as flat as it was before but if you are s tone overweight maybe that's your goal?

If ALL you eat each day is as you have said, the weight should be coming off - at least one pound a week. Maybe swap a fruit/ sugary yoghurt for plain Greek yoghurt which is higher in protein . I guess only you know if you are eating only what you say :) It must come to little more than 1000k cals a day.

I'd forget the sit ups - they can do all kinds of damage to the pelvic floor as well as other parts of your body- and focus on aerobic exercise like buggy pushing and playing with your baby.
