Mirena for Adenomyosis

Does anyone has mirena for Adenomyosis? What is your experience?
I have a mirena for a year now and though my experience so far has been good it not as amazing as others describe. I use to have really bad ovulation pain, heavy flooding periods and period pain. My periods were super heavy, so much so that I avoided going out for first 3 days. My Gynaecologist suggested mirena but told me that it would take 9 months in my condition. So after a year I don't have ovulation pain, a few cramps 1-2 days before period but nothing major, few days of spotting before period ( I had it pre mirena too) , light to medium period. But my issue is that I still bleed medium to heavy on my third day for a couple hours.
I had already accepted that my periods will never go away with mirena because of adenomyosis and perimenopause but I really hoped that I would have a lighter period. May be I am just getting greedy 😁 as my life is still better than before.
I was wondering if anyone is in the same boat as me and has tried something additional like a pill or something to go with mirena to help further.
With 3 previous major surgeries and adhesion history I do not want to go for another procedure like ablation or hysterectomy.
Any suggestions would be appreciated 😊.

Mine took about 16 months before I stopped bleeding. I was still flooding, awful ovulation and period pain. I had a check up booked with the GP and had decided I was going to ask them to remove it and try ablation when it all literally just stopped. Now on my second one, at 49 probably in peri menopause but have had no bleeding for over 5 years. I am so glad that I persevered with it as it has changed my life.

@danniotley thanks for giving me hope. I am glad it worked out for you. My situation is improving every passing month so may be a few more months for me too.
