Ovarian cyst

What has your experience been with them? I like Google too much and have convinced myself I have a cyst. Ovulation has been painful lately, particularly this month. I got period-like cramps for 4 days, a break for 4 days, and it has started again today. To the point I keep thinking my period is starting but no sign of it yet...

I also get nausea and fatigue around ovulation. My period are bit more irregular than they used to be and I sometimes get spotting before my period which isn't normal for me. I also feel a bit podgy.

I don't know if I'm just being paranoid as we want to start TTC in January and I'm overanalysing everything and worrying myself that all these unusual things mean my hormones/cycle are a mess and
I'll never be able to conceive...

Or is some weirdness to be expected after having a child (2 years ago already but period took 18 monts to start again).

Can a C section cause damage in there and make you infertile ? So many questions...

Periods change after pregnancy so it might get heavier, lighter or irregular. Spotting can be normal if you are in your 40's. If you are young it should be checked as it can be caused by polyps, fibroids and ovarian cyst that have persisted. We keep making ovarian cyst that burst every cycle but if one or more don't burst and remain for several cycles then they can create symptoms including mid cycle pain.
Also your csection could be the reason of all your misery specially if it was an emergency c section. Most c section cause scar tissue and too much scar tissue bind internal organs and cause pelvic pain, constipation etc depending where the scar is.
You should discuss your symptoms with your GP, they can do scans and blood test to rule out most of the problems. If problem is scar tissue/adhesion then there is no test to find out except surgery but scar tissue should not stop you from getting pregnant again.

Thank you, I can't tell you how much I appreciate your thoughtful response.

It was an emergency C-section and I definitely have that pull-ey scar tissue feeling inside. Often the ovulation pain is just a dull ache and I wonder if it's in fact just adhesion-type pain.

I feel like pregnancy has made me more sensitive to my hormones, with the fatigue and nausea around ovulation, worse PMS symptoms (incl anxiety/heart palpitations) super heavy periods with clots. Urgh never noticed being a woman was so hard before.

I guess I need to talk to my GP but she was pretty dismissive before so I'm nervous about wasting her time! I feel that as long as its something non life-threatening and doesnt affect fertility I don't mind putting up with the misery though!

Some GP' won't pay much attention to menstrual issues as they think it is normal for periods to be nuisance. But the truth is that when women start to pay attention towards period after years of having then something is definitely not right and as doctors they should help. My Gynaecologist once said that if you have to cancel plans because you are on your period and going out of house for couple hours means you need painkillers and pack too many extra sanitary products then you need a consult as something is not right.
