Pre op for hysterectomy

Got a call yesterday asking me to go for a pre op assessment on Tuesday. I was told previously that an op would be unlikely to take place until into next year.
Do you think they’d do a pre op so far in advance or could they be ready to book me in? The person on the phone couldn’t shed any light

Mine was within a week of the op. It was a while ago but IIRC some of the questions/tests would need to be within a fairly short period of the op to be meaningful. Fingers crossed for you being booked in soon.

Thank you although I’m panicking. I haven’t been on a waiting list long so still getting my head around it all and we’ve gone into local lockdown again and I’m terrified in case the children are sent home from school again in the coming weeks whilst I’m recovering 😰

Don't panic Flowers.

Recovery isn't as bad as you may think. I had an abdominal which is the 'worst' of the options. The main limitation is not being able to lift heavy items. They won't send you home until you can get up and about. You do feel tired as you are recovering, but you will be fine to do things around the house after the first few days if you need to. If you are having keyhole or vaginal surgery your recovery will be easier but abdominal is really not that bad. A week after my abdominal op I was taking short walks and went for a pub meal. 3 weeks after the op I cooked Christmas dinner for six!
The important thing is to be active in short bursts and take regular breaks.
Is there someone else at home besides the children to support you?
