Can anyone tell me their experiences
I think I've never had the strongest bladder and after I'd given birth (7 years ago) that of course just made it a bit worse. Eh when coughing and sneezing leaking and when running
But I feel like it's got worse recently. A couple of weeks ago just I'd just been to the toilet then had a coffee (I don't drink coffee regularly just to point out as I know people might say about coffee) I ran about a field with my daughter and just leaked so much. I think I've got worse

I've mentioned it to the doctors twice before years ago and they just say so your pelvic floors.

I'm a bit embarrassed and also I guess I wish I didn't have this problem. I want to talk to the doctors but I'm trying to work up the courage. Because I want to be referred but I'm worried they'll say do your exercises.

Please can anyone advise what happened to them in these circumstances
It's starting to bother me

Hello, it is worth doing your exercises but if you are struggling to find the right muscles I would recommend a Kegel 8 type device.

Once I could find them, I used the machine to strengthen iuntil I could find them myself.

Might be related to your posture, how you sit, with one knee over the other etc. Exercise that compliments your pelvic floor, building your bum muscles from walking, squats etc.
Brace yourself when you cough and sneeze and look up Julie Wiebe for postures etx

Ask to be referred to a woman's health physio. If the Dr tells you to do PF exercises say you have but it hasn't help and need help in doing them correctly.

How old are you, could it be perimenopause? I had similar with frequent nee to pee - not being able to hold it and having you go right there and then. I saw a consultant who after checking pelvic floor strength and checking for prolapse prescribed a higher dose of Hrt and targeted estrogen in the form of a pessary (vaginfem) I’ve upped her but not done pessary yet - it’s slightly better. They also says you need to train your bladder to hold more by resisting the urge. Hope that helps

purpleme12 · 21/09/2020 23:12

I don't think it's that

I have heard about the training your bladder and everything. It just seems to have got worse I don't know why. I try to train it still I'm worried I won't be able to

Thank you for the helpful replies. I have been working but I guess I haven't got the courage up to phone them yet either

It's definitely worth getting referred by your GP, don't suffer in silence!

After giving birth 6 years ago I was diagnosed with a mild prolapse (to me it often doesn't feel mild and I'm just very glad I don't have a bad prolapse) and I really started struggling to hold my wee. Like you I'd never had the strongest bladder (despite doing loads of pelvic floor exercises) but at least I'd been able to walk fast and jog etc before pregnancy!

Saw physio after the birth and was told to drink less and do my pelvic floor exercises (which I already was doing and was told I was doing them well).

4 years later I asked to be referred again as things were getting worse and was given various rubbery pessaries which didn't help, and finally had a urodynamics test in February which diagnosed an over active bladder on top of the prolapse. I was told that no amount of pelvic floor squeezes were going to help with an over active bladder.

I'm now 47, nothing improving at all and now probably in perimenopause as well... (i didnt realise that also weakened the bladder 😞) I've been offered a urethral bulking injection next week which I'm really unsure about but like you sound I feel desperate to run after my very energetic DD!

Please don't be afraid to contact the GP to be referred onto a specialist. The nurses I've been seeing have all been so friendly and helpful and full of humour which really helps in this quite embarrassing problem!
