Depo provera and periods

I had the depo provera injection a couple of months ago. I had it as a short term thing whilst waiting for my hysterscopy examination (fibroids). The first month, no period which was wonderful after years of heavy periods with massive clots.
This month however is making up for last months no period. I passed what I think was a decidual cast. I've never seen something like that before, and it's freaked me out a bit, but I know it's nothing to worry about. I did have the most horrendous pains all day before if passed. I have had much more period pain generally which I think is due to the fibroids, which I never used to have. I am also losing quite a bit of hair. I have been bleeding for a full 7 days, which is not going to help my anaemia.
I will be due the next injection next month and I am wondering if I should have it. I don't know what will happen period wise next month, plus I could have the examination before then, so might not need it anyway.
I know no one can really answer my questions, I'm just muttering away, it if you can share your experiences of it, and whether you'd stick with it then I'd really love to hear it.

Depo made me spot constantly for months. I gave up after 2 shots

I spoke to a gp about it and she said to have the next injection as it can take time to settle. I am however on day 27 of bleeding, this evening has been the worst for a long time. Changing pads every 20 mins, trying to get off the loo but literally dripping blood, and huge clots. The gp did say to bring my blood test forward if the bleeding was to continue which I will do now. I really need to phone gynae but I know they'll have a huge list of women they need to see, but I can't do another month of bleeding :(

Did you save what you passed or did you dispose of it?

I used to have horrifically painful periods, to the point of blacking out, and with cramps so violent that I would sleep on the bathroom floor due to the vomiting and diarrhoea. Some years since I was on the depo but as far as I can remember, the first time I had it I was a bit all over the place for the first three months, though my periods did lighten (and very little pain) I would literally have no idea if I would be bleeding from one day to the next.

Things did seem to settle after my second injection, and for the next four years or so my body settled into a pattern of two months period free, and then one period that always arrived approximately one month before my next shot was due.

Would the mini / POP pill be an option for you? Possibly with packs run back to back to avoid the withdrawal bleed.

I currently have a mirena which was agony to fit (tiny tilted cervix and never had children) and these days I barely spot.

I had my second injection yesterday. Ironically, after a few days of no bleeding, walking to the surgery I thought uhoh and went to the loo and found blood and a clot. I didn't have any San pro on me so when I got called into the nurse, I asked her if she had any and thankfully she did. She then asked why I was still bleeding!
I am really hoping my hysterscopy examination appointment letter comes soon. I had a blood test this week as my 'period' was almost 40 days this time, and my iron levels are a 5 when should be at the lowest an 11. No wonder I'd been feeling like shit.
@ WhatWouldChristineCagneyDo I had a Mirena. It didn't help and I eventually passed it at 5am one morning :(

I hope it works out for you @longtompot. Flowers

Finally got my appointment, 26th Nov. It's being done whilst awake, just hope they don't try and remove the fibroid as I remember when they tried to remove a polyp it hurt like hell. Here's to hopefully not having a heavy bleeding day on that day.
