High prolactin and polycystic ovaries

Hi everyone. I have been diagnosed with slightly high prolactin and mild case of polycystic ovaries. I have never had regular periods. Had 19 day cycles, 50 day cycles etc. 3 periods in one month. However I have never had such a long ‘period’ I started spotting on the 24th of August and since then I have been bleeding. Couple times I’ve had cramp as well. It’s now the 12th day of bleeding. I really don’t know what it could be. I’ve called the GP and I’m having another blood test on Monday to look at my hormone levels. I can’t seem to find anything online to do with long periods and high prolactin though. Anyone have a clue why I am having such a long bleedSad

Are you including spotting days as period? Your first day of the period is when you bleed at your normal period levels. You can spot for 5-7 days in advance of a period but you still don't include those days as period. Spotting for a day or 2 is considered normal as you get older and enter the perimenopause phase. Spotting when younger is only considered normal if you have always spotted and it is not a new pattern.
Spotting before a period of it is new then it is due to hormonal imbalance ( high estrogen, low progesterone) . Hormonal imbalance can be caused by fibroids or persistent ovarian cyst. If you normally have pcos then your chance of having persistent ovarian cyst increases. Normally in every cycle we make ovarian cyst but then it ruptures during ovulation but sometimes it doesn't and it stays and grows causing hormonal imbalance. Most of the time the cyst go away on their own in 2-3 months but in the mean time you get period issues same like yours.
Let your gp do the investigation. If you have pain let them know so they can investigate.
