Never had this before and suffer with major anxiety just looking for some reassurance.

I’m 27, and was diagnosed with CFS 2 years ago.
Seemed to recover quite well and go about my
Normal life.
I’m not sure if this could have anything to do with it.
Yesterday morning I was getting ready after doing some cleaning 🧹 and I got a slight head pain in the left side. Felt like a headache, not a headache.

Went about my day and went into town with my husband I was so sweaty and clammy head pain came on and off I had to come home.
Slightly light headed but not really any other symptoms apart from I feel tired. Pain still coming and going today?
Could this be a migraine?

It doesn’t sound like any migraine I’ve ever had but symptoms do vary. In my experience, my eyesight goes wobbly, my arm and leg goes numb then my face and tongue, and then I have the most unbearable pain right at the front of my head, and I literally can’t do anything but lay in the dark, going on my phone is definitely a no no. It usually lasts about 6 hours.

In the days after a migraine I have a constant full headache.

Does it ease with paracetamol?

Mrslovexx · 16/08/2020 18:18

My legs felt a little jelly like and I had to walk back to the car I felt like if I stopped I’d pass out I felt rather sweaty and clammy 😨🄵
Once I had some air on blown on me, window open some deep breaths I came home and got into bed.
The slight pain feels like a headache but it’s definitely not constantly there.. I took some ibuprofen yesterday when it first came on but it did carry on keep coming. I haven’t taken painkillers as it isn’t constant.

Migraines do tend to just be on one side

Mrslovexx · 16/08/2020 20:36

@hedgehogger1 it just doesn’t feel like a headache at all, the pain comes and goes it’s not there constantly, can slightly feel behind my eye and feel a little light headed 🄓. And I’ve never had a migraine (I don’t think) I’ve had headaches and I know what they feel like but this even doesn’t feel like one. Sometimes the pain will be completely left sided & I slightly will feel it in my forehead

OP posts:
PurpleDaisies · 16/08/2020 20:39

Pain behind one eye and across one side of my forehead is exactly the kind I get with my migraines.

MrsH497 · 16/08/2020 20:42

You poor thing. My migraines last about 2-3 days often one sided but sometimes more general and behind my eyes. I feel exhausted totally drained, cannot stand anything other than a dark room soft pillows round my head, feel sick and get a massively sweet tooth. I don't get visual disturbances thankfully but I can also get upset stomachs. After it I feel almost hungover. You may well have a migraine keep hydrated and try to sleep in a dark room. Sleep is essential for me (although I can get them in my sleep as well)
Feel better soon x

Mrslovexx · 16/08/2020 20:49

@MrsH497 Thankyou x
This one has been since yesterday morning I think it has caused me some awful anxiety because migraines I’ve heard they consist of a lot of pain etc. Mine hasn’t been at all ā€˜pain’ as such. Just pains come and go, around the eye and head.
It is still coming the same as it was yesterday hasn’t got any worse/better though. I have stayed in bed pretty much today as I feel slightly light headed 🄓 with it.
I’ve felt overly tired today, I’ve had a nap 😓 is they anything I can do that may help? I’ve never had this before x

Sounds like a migraine OP but there are so many different types, it feels like most sufferers have different symptoms.

My migraines often feature a headache that isn't really painful but is absolutely horrid at the same time. They can ebb and flow for a few days. Painkillers not hugely helpful, but i find triptans, syndol and sleep normally get me over the worst.

Often there's a post-migraine hangover too, along with difficulty remembering words. Sometimes I can work through with medication, sometimes not. Have had to be collected at work by DH multiple times as couldn't drive.

Aura are optional, sometimes there'll be numbness, visual problems, other sensory problems.

stepmumSW5 · 16/08/2020 20:54

Hi OP
Do you take contraceptive pills? I developed horrible migraines whilst on them and once I quit the hormones the migraines were gone.

VanGoghsDog · 16/08/2020 20:56

Have you considered speaking to a doctor? Maybe call the NHS 111 line?

Mrslovexx · 16/08/2020 20:58

@stepmumSW5
I am actually on the mirena coil, which was due out Oct 19. Finally got an appointment March 20, and corona happened, and now they won’t touch it.
I don’t know if it could be to do with that? X

CrunchyNutNC · 16/08/2020 21:01

I'd be surprised if it's your mirena. A mirena is progesterone releasing whereas the combined pill also has oestrogen, and i believe it's oestrogen fluctuations that are a migraine trigger.

stepmumSW5 · 16/08/2020 21:01

@Mrslovexx it might be. I switched to the copper coil due to that. Hormones give me horrible migraines. Don't fear being pushy and demanding with your obgyn. They don't like admitting the hormones can give you migraines. I had to change obgyns to find one that respected the fact I didn't want anything to do with hormones anymore.

Mrslovexx · 16/08/2020 21:02

@CrunchyNutNC
I’ve never felt this before and usually I get headaches which hurt, so to just have a few random pains, etc and it doesn’t really hurt has made me wonder and given me some heightened anxiety 🄓.
I’ve been taking amitriptyline for 2 years I think they are supposed to ā€˜help’ with headaches but I’m not on them for that and I’m on the lowest dose.
I have had a nap today, and I did yesterday also when it came on. It was very sudden, while I was getting ready. I thought nothing of it and went into town with my husband. My anxiety then got worse, I was heaving but wasn’t sick, and sweaty and clammy, I had to go back to the car, and come home.

@VanGoghsDog I will call my GP tomorrow. I don’t think I need to call 111 x

There are different hormones though and there are lots of them circulating in you body naturally, all at different levels and fluctuating up and down. The mirena has tiny tiny amounts and it acts locally, it's not like taking a tablet.

Mrslovexx · 16/08/2020 21:05

I will definitely speak to my GP about it possibly being my coil, with it being due out by almost a year. I was having some trouble with it a few months ago with awful pains in my legs, groin etc. Not sure if this could be a symptom of the coil as I have had 5 years and never had this before. But I will be sure to mention it x

LadyFlumpalot · 16/08/2020 21:06

I spent years thinking my migraines couldn't possibly be migraines due to the common misconception that they have to involve the most painful headache you have ever had.

My migraines usually start with me feeling very tearful and grumpy. They then move on to a cotton wool feeling in my head where I slur my words and struggle to think coherently. I then usually get a headache behind one eye, not an awful one, but bad. I also usually feel very sick, and am very sensitive to light and smells.

Very rarely I get the aura, dots and lines in my vision, however if I get that it doesn't tend to develop into a headache, rather a nasty hangover feeling instead.

I pop two of the nurofen/codiene mix tablets, lie down in a dark room and put a hot water bottle behind my head so it's in the small of my neck. The hot water bottle trick was suggested to me on here and has actually really helped. Before, I'd have to have a long sleep, now the heat seems to ease the pain quickly without the need for actual sleep.

CrunchyNutNC · 16/08/2020 21:07

@Mrslovexx

I'm sure a chat with your GP will put your mind at rest, best of luck Flowers

Bookaholic73 · 16/08/2020 21:10

I suffer with migraines and this doesn’t sound like one to me.
My migraines start with vision problems, then auras, then the headache starts and the nausea.

Had you eaten much? It sounds more like low blood sugars to me.

Bookaholic73 · 16/08/2020 21:11

Forgot to say that I slur my words and often get disoriented and confused with my migraines.

stepmumSW5 · 16/08/2020 21:13

@CrunchyNutNC indeed, but I tried a lot of options including the injection one and they all have me migraines. I was really unlucky with hormonal contraceptives so the copper coil was the perfect solution. No more going to the hospital vomiting like there's no tomorrow and feeling such pain that I even had suicidal thoughts.

Mrslovexx · 16/08/2020 21:24

@CrunchyNutNC Thankyou I will update once spoken to GPSmile

I don’t actually know if this would have anything to do with it either but.. I had my hair done last Monday, I had it stripped and 2 rounds of bleach, basically 3 with the stripper too.
Didn’t like the way it turned out so had it coloured on Wednesday.

Head is still a little itchy even though it’s been watched 3/4 times since?

I can only think colouring my hair, Mirena coil, migraine or.. it’s a part of my CFS flaring up again although headaches was once one of my symptoms but proper headaches, not this.

@Bookaholic73 eating fine, of course I think migraines occur differently to everybody. I will be speaking to my GP it’s just nice to hear of some similar experiences & your thoughts Smile
