Sorry for the disgusting photos. But I've never had anything like this and not sure if I should be concerned.

This is just one. But I woke up to 3 of these this
Morning on my pad. It's not like a blood clot. Different texture and colour. Only way I can describe the texture is a little like a very thin slice of raw chicken 😅

Sorry I know this is very gross and I'm not usually the type of panic over things but this felt odd. And it wasn't "bloody" to touch. I mean no blood was left on my hand after I picked it up if that makes sense

Ok I get them due to fibroid. .I describe them like liver.

LilOldMe · 16/08/2020 15:12

I've had those. I know they're terrifying but they're just big blood clots. I had a long chat with my gynaecologist about them, where I was describing a particularly huge one in hideous graphic detail and he was all, "Just a blood clot. Yep, Raw liver, no blood, big - just a blood clot."

! I don't get them now (womb ablation and Mirena) but I had a few massive ones in the past. Please don't worry.

Yes liver is a much better description! I’ve never had this before is it worth getting checked out? I just did some reading about fibroids and it seems harmless but worth talking to a Gp anyway?

Ok thank you! Liver is such a good description. I’m due a smear anyway so might mention it but good to know it’s noting to stress about.

I would keep an eye on the. If they get bigger and/or periods get heavier go see GP. fibroids can be harmless (ie they don't turn cancerous ) but mine has caused me extreme heavy bleeding/flooding. ..as with anything better to treat sooner. .so yes mention it at your smear

justoverthehorizon · 16/08/2020 15:25

Oh. .I knew what your pic would be, before opening your thread!

Yeah, I get em too. I have fibroids.

Apparently as you go through peri menopause you can get more of these things. Squishy like jelly. So if you’re if you’re in peri it’s something which is likely to continue.

I get these - I always said they were like liver too! I don't believe I do have fibroids though, I thought they were just normal?

Ohdeariedear · 16/08/2020 16:01

Oh wow. I used to get these all the time - a price of liver is the perfect description. And, I had a massive fibroid that I didn’t know about til it was massive. Never ever knew of the link until now!

I’ll just second the comment about watching out for anaemia, that’s how they discovered my fibroid.

Decidual cast I think.

Lining of your uterus comes away in one bit. Freaky as hell when it happens.

Was about to say the same thing. I have had these twice after taking Noretheristerone to delay periods for a holiday. Mine both looked like the shape of a womb... like the whole lining had come off in one go. Lovely
Shabooma · 16/08/2020 16:27

The "chicken skin" description is textbook for a decidual cast. Don't worry, it's nothing to worry about, and there is one of these threads every month! Smile

AlaskaThunderfuckHiiiiiiiii · 16/08/2020 16:30

I could have posted your picture OP, found the exact same thing this morning.

I’m putting mine down to having changed from the mini pill to the depo a few weeks ago, I’m having a breakthrough bleed that’s gone on for over a week but apparently normal when switching

SnackBitch2020 · 16/08/2020 16:38

These are blood clots. I get some like these and even bigger a few days per month.

If this is a new thing, I'd suggest visiting your GP for advice.

I raised this issue with my GP a few years ago. They said it's likely nothing to be concerned about but referred me for an ultrasound, which came back normal.

QuestionableMouse · 16/08/2020 16:42

Just clots.

Some periods I have quite a few, some hardly any. They're normal though.

Justateenagegirl · 25/02/2022 15:03

I get these too every month and I don't know why, I'm only 14 and I don't think fibrois would be the answer

ditalini · 25/02/2022 15:07

I used to get them when I was a teenager and had really heavy, painful periods. They went away in the end after a few years (possibly due to me going on the pill in my late teens - but they didn't come back when I came off it).

Either a decidual cast or just a big chunk of womb lining coming away at once. Not related to fibroids in my case.

Fairytoast · 25/02/2022 15:12

I have recurring polyps which cause awful heavy periods and clots, I once passed a clot the size of the palm of my hand, to say it made me feel a bit queasy was an understatement!

AttilaTheMeerkat · 26/02/2022 09:56

Have had those too; they are clots (I used to think of them as chopped liver too). In my case endometriosis caused this to arise.

Elsiebear90 · 26/02/2022 10:21

It’s probably a decidual cast or a large clot, I get these, but I have endometriosis. I had a huge decidual cast after I was told to take the pill back to back for 3 months, scared the life out of me when it happened, I thought it was big chunk of my uterus, but it hasn’t happened since, I do get huge clots though.
