DD1 has had a (slightly inconclusive) diagnosis of PO. She is in her early 20s and has always been a bit overweight and is now heavier. This concerns me (diabetes, Covid, etc) and I'm sure concerns her (she has seen a counsellor for a while, but not about her weight). Her siblings and parents are not overweight (me and her dad not without some effort - exercise and 5:2, so she sees good habits in theory). Does anyone know if I could encourage her onto the 5:2 by saying it will help the PO condition? I don't want to make it just about her weight, although I am sure she would feel better all round if she exercised and was lighter (what do I know!)

Loosing weight with pcos is like a battle with loose loose situation. Have you talked to the gp about Metformin for her. With Metformin if she has good habits -diet wise and exercise , she will be able to loose weight easily and keep it off.
If GP or you are reluctant to use Metformin then avoid sugar, eat magnesium rich food and add a grapefruit a day to the diet. It works wonder for women with pcos and helps loose weight. Just eat half a grapefruit before breakfast and half before lunch.
