Hi
Am taking Cilique combined pill back to back to help with endo pain. Am on my third pack of 21 days, so have taken it for 50 +days non stop now, and have some bleeding. Is this normal breakthrough bleeding or something else? I'm feeling cranky with period pain type feelings

TIA, been a while since I've been on the pill (40 year old mum of three Confused

I went on pill during lockdown for endo pain. GP advised to take it back to back but if spotting for 3 or more days, take a 4 day break for withdrawal bleed. I started spotting same time as you, at the 3 pack mark. I stopped and restarted 4 days later (whilst still bleeding). I did though find my pain got worse in the two weeks after having taken the break, so I now have a question out with my gynae about whether it would be better to put up with the spotting and not take a break next time. I will update in a couple of weeks when I get a response, but yes, it sounds like you are having a normal breakthrough bleed, and conventional wisdom is to take a break to allow a full withdrawal bleed.

Thanks @Tarararara for that. I need to go back for another prescription anyway but just annoyed that no one mentioned that in the first place!

Just to update - my gynaecologist said it's fine for me to continue taking the pill with no breaks at all, ever. Said I would probably have fairly persistent spotting for periods of time though.
