I’ve got a doctors appointment in a couple of hours about troublesome periods (painful / irregular/ heavy) I have a thread here if anyone wants more history : www.mumsnet.com/Talk/womens_health/3954526-Periods-returned-post-partum-Forgot-how-bad-it-was

I’m worried I’ll get offered a prescription for the mini pill, absolutely don’t want the combined pill. I want investigations into why this is happening but should I take a prescription if they offer it?
I’m worried about side effects but I don’t want to seem like I don’t have an open mind...

I sincerely hope you obtain a gynae referral this afternoon, do not take no for an answer on this point.

I would take the prescription if its offered, you do not have to fill it.

Thanks @AttilaTheMeerkat !!
I was going to tag you on my previous thread to ask but I thought that seemed a bit demanding! Blush

I'm hoping to have a depo injection for this, though I am at the other end of the spectrum and prob perimenopausal. It has been suggested I take a progesterone pill to help with the heaviness, but I get bouts of IBS so don't think it's worth it. I would probably only have one or two injections, depending on my hysteroscope examination results, and how long it takes to happen.

It would be an odd recommendation. Considering I had a month long period when I started taking the combined pill. 'Hmm, let's cure the bleeding by prolonging the bleeding'.

No, I wouldn't accept that as help. In the short term it may even be a hindrance.

I certainly don’t want anything systemic that I can’t stop immediately in case of side effects (injection, implant, iud) and as I won’t accept the combined pill, that only really leaves the mini pill - hence my concern.

Update on my original thread (linked in op) if anyone is interested, or comes across this at a later date!
