PMDD -Premenstrual dysphoric disorder

I have suffered for years. Mood swings, depression, anger. Only recently have a read about PMDD and I think this is what I suffer from.

I sometimes wonder how my DH hasn't left me, he handles me really well.

Was wondering if anyone had been diagnosed, is there any treatment?

I think this is what I have - I’ve been taking black cohosh for about two years and it’s made a life changing difference to me

Thanks @ComeOnGordon for replying. I haven't heard of that, I'll have a read about it. Do you have it prescribed by gp?

It was recommended by my GP but I buy it over the counter. I’ve not had any side effects from it but I think it’s something that’s worth discussing with a doctor before you take it.

My mood swings were unbearable, I had shocking anxiety in the days before my period, I cried way too often and now I don’t have any symptoms at all. And I’ve reduced it to every second day now. Really honestly changed my life

I was diagnosed with this after my 1st DS and was put on fluoxetine which I weaned myself off eventually. The GP actually told me it was hormonal and caused by a deficiency in vitamin B6 and put me on a dose to 20mg daily. This seemed to help a bit.
Fast forward to after DS2 and I have been suicidal every month on the run up to my period, wanting to leave DH, wanting to run away from my life really. It's been absolutely horrendous.
I decided I don't want to be on antidepressants based on what the GP told me was the reason I have this problem.
So I bought 100mg B6 tablets and started taking them daily a few weeks ago. This is the first time in months when I haven't been feeling completely overwhelmed and unable to cope.
I am hoping this is going to last and isn't just a one off.
I really empathise with anyone who suffers from this. It's like 2 weeks off my life are normal and 2 weeks are unbearable.

I know this is a little late @yourphysiotherapist but I have just seen your post and needed to reply. I have had pmdd (unaware of what it was until about a year ago) since I stopped breastfeeding my second son 2.5 years ago but it got severe 1.5 years ago after my husband and I separated. I have irregular periods so it's not ok the clock every month but every time I have a period which is usually every 6/7 weeks. I have researched and tried every vitamin under the sun I could find and people discussed:
Red clover
Maca root
Dong quai
Angus castus

Among other more mainstream vitamins inc magnesium. There have been times it's not been as bad but the two episodes of pmdd I have had during lockdown were horrific, I question everything in my life and am suicidal, I suddenly hate my partner and pick out every flaw in him even though he is a wonderful kind amazing man who supports me through all this every time, last time I was desperate and the doctor prescribed me citalopram to take cyclically which I had been trying to avoid, I only started taking it mid pmdd episode so don't know how much it helped, this month (as a previous poster has mentioned) I bought some 100mg vitamin b6 and to my surprised my period arrived a more normal time (32 days, although was v light) I had a couple days of hormonal ness in the run up and was terrified of what was coming this time and it never really came, so for me that made a huge difference too
