What's the likelihood of me having PCOS or any such serious health concern ?

My problem is I have mustache-like hair which I have to trim regularly and even then it shows the greyishness slightly .
I have regular periods pretty much (plus/minus 2-3 days every month)
I also had a normal pregnancy in just our first attempt of sex (because sex was near ovulation period I guess) although doctors said I had a placental abruption during labor and had to do c-section. Now I have a healthy 4 month old boy.

But the hirsutism is issue. And now my baby has 'mustache' hair too. It gives a grey shadow on upper lip , I am wondering whether excess male hormones reaching him through breast milk.

thanks

BTW during my ultrasounds, doctors used to report one or two normal cysts measuring across a few centimeters. My sonographer would always said its nothing to worry .

I have pcos and had normal period -always except recently which is more to do with perimenopause. So you can have pcos and normal periods , I do have excess facial hair on my chin and upper lip. I also get adult acne - 1 or 2 spots near my periods, plus skin tags on my neck. Still my periods had been normal like clockwork, 28 days whole life. My pcos was medically confirmed so it is not my assumption.

I'm quite a hairy person (everywhere) and I don't have PCOS - it was considered as part of fertility tests we undertook but ruled out. Turns out, I'm just a hairy person. I blame my DF.

Does PCOS have any long term health complications like cancer ? Does my son get excessive male hormones via breast milk ? How will it affect his health.

I highly doubt you have it..you dont mention your ethnicity? You can be hairy without pcos. Dont trim the tache, shave it off.

sarahhoping · 12/06/2020 04:41

@GinasWig I am from India, basically southeast Asian

Please don't worry if you had pcos your scans would have picked up lots of problematic cysts, you would have bad struggled with getting pregnant, irregular or missed period. Some ethnicities naturally tend to be hairier like some mediterranean and middle eastern women. I dont know about too much testesterone from your milk.. im hairier than my partner and our dc seem to have got that lovely gene from me 😁

PCOS doesn't cause excessive hormones in your milk.
Please dont worry about that
I am also not aware of any link to cancer
Please relax and enjoy your baby!!

While pcos does cause excess facial hair , excess facial hair is not always pcos. As a person with pcos let me assure you that pcos facial hair has different characteristics. If you have excess hair by genes then you can see dense hair on upper lip like a moustache but the hair are softer same as you see on side of your face , with pcos some of the hair are coarser like male facial hair (moustache/beard). Not all are coarse but you might one one or 2 in your upper lip and some across your chin.
If all of your hair are soft then you have excess hair issue caused by genes.
You are from India which also makes your facial hair slightly black so if they are a bit dense than usual you see them more.
Now as for cancer - pcos does not cause cancer. Some women get cancer because they get period once a year and even in that case it is rare.
Your breast milk is safe. I get it, all new mother's have anxiety but let me assure you that you are not harming your child by feeding.

Pcos raises ovarian cancer risks i thought?
