Hey ๐Ÿ‘‹ a bit of a long one but I really hope I can get some advice. (Will see a doctor)

For the past few days Iโ€™ve been having very low pain in my stomach/groin radiating pain around my back, and up my side (left) mainly.
Feel really crap in myself.
I was thinking UTI but no pain/burn when going.
Also have the mirena coil which was due out in Oct last year but couldnโ€™t get appt until March which got cancelled.
I googled (big mistake) I suffer terrible anxiety but I did read diverticulitis but have no other symptoms for that.
Just to add tonight, I feel a little sick x

Your mirena has run out of progesterone and the pains you are getting is mirena crash. You might end up getting a very heavy period. Read about it. Another possible reason could be ovarian cyst as a side effect to mirena but is quite unlikely towards the expiry date.
Honestly I don't think it is diverticulitis. A radiating pain can cause nausea and so can anxiety. Just talk to your GP and see if they can replace your mirena. If you are planning on just removing it then I would advise you to read other women experience after mirena removal on Mumsnet so you would know what to expect.

@Literallyfedup Thankyou for your reply. Can this crash make me feel fatigued and just generally sleepy and awful? I went to the gp who did urine sample and couldnโ€™t find an infection, also sent of swabs and gave me antibiotics for maybe a pelvic infection which is precautionary. The pains seem to have eased a lot I just donโ€™t feel right in myself x

It can make you fatigued. Our body is suppose to make our own estrogen and progesterone, with mirena or any other hormonal pill our body becomes lazy, so when the artificial hormones go it takes time for our body to move into its natural cycle. And yes mirena crash is very much real. A lot of women complain of pelvic pain for weeks when mirena is removed and the artificial hormone leaves the body. In your case mirena is still there but the hormone level are low or exhausted. Even if mirena has adequate hormone levels, a displaced mirena can cause cramps too.
Do finish your antibiotics in any case as if it is an infection then it might help. Look for mirena crash on net, if symptoms are similar then talk to your gp about the possibility.

Also to be doubly safe do a pregnancy test. It's rare but mirena does fail and cause ectopic pregnancy which can cause pelvic cramps.

I wouldnโ€™t jump too fast to blame the falling hormone levels, when I had my last one changed-about 18 months after I should have-the consultant told me that although the standard life is seen as 5 years, theyโ€™re effective for up to 7 years

Thankyou for your replies. @Literallyfedup sorry I forgot to mention the nurse did do a pregnancy test and it was negative.
The pain has come back and itโ€™s all in my lower back, quite intense when it comes on, and in my groin. I will keep on the antibiotics Iโ€™ve only had 3 so far since yesterday and itโ€™s 1, 4 times a day.
Iโ€™m wondering if it has something to do with my coil honestly I just donโ€™t know what. I donโ€™t think we realise the stress these things put on our bodies. I think I want it out I will call my gp back at some point and speak to them about maybe having it out. The pain is awful in my back. Sometimes itโ€™s all over, other times itโ€™s one sided but can be either side. This time itโ€™s in my right side, now itโ€™s intense but I can cope with the pain if that makes sense. Just very uncomfortable x

@JudgeRindersMinder yes I was told they are only licensed for 5 years, and although it can be unusual for pregnancy or for it to move etc after so long. I canโ€™t seem to find much on the internet about it running out after 5 years or slowly running out leaving these absolute awful pains.
They do feel like menstrual pains too but very strong x
