Child going to a spa

Hey Guys

My daughter told me she wants to go to a spa for her 8th birthday lol. Obviously not during COVID-19 but her birthday is in September anyway so it should be fine.

What are your opinions on children's spa? Please give me advice and opinions!!!

I dont think it's appropriate. If I'm paying £££ for a spa day I don't want kids around. I love kids - i have 1, i work with them but a spa? Nope.

One of our local hairdressers do a pamper day for kids- they literally just pai t their nails and put their hair up nicely to make them feel special- could this be a good compromise rather than an actual spa day?

Shar05 · 04/06/2020 23:31

Yes, such a good idea. A pamper day will be much better. Thank you

They dont tend to let under 16s in alot of spas. I'd do a home spa, new robe and slippers, face pack etc.

I used to work in the Spa industry and I havnt heard of letting under 16s in. The jacuzzis and thermal suite won't be suitable. I agree with trying to find someone to come to the house and doing a pamper evening.

They won't admit or treat her at a proper spa. You could find a local therapist who works from home or who is mobile who may do certain treatments if you are present.

You can rent blow up jacuzzis for home use

I don't even think a pamper party is suitable for an 8yr old. They're little children - do they really feel the need to pamper and titivate and improve their bodies/skin so young?
I know some like nail polish, but more than that would make me uncomfortable. There's plenty time for pamper parties later.

Just my opinion, not judging you, just surprised that's all, as my child was not at all interested in such things until 11+yrs.

Spa at home sounds like a great idea for her and her friends.

You could rent a jacuzzi as long as it would be well sanitised and the other parents were ok with that.

A new swimming costume, dressing gown and slippers for her (the others could bring their own as well as their swimming costumes), finger and toenails painted, perhaps a hairdresser that comes to the house to cut hair if she needed a haircut (the other parents could pay if they want their kids done) if you wanted to splash out on that.

You could do a mocktail bar with different juices to make mock tails in fancy glasses. Perhaps an ice cream bar too with different flavours and they could have it in bowls or add to the mocktails for ice cream drinks.
