Periods after mirena - will they be as bad as when I was a teen?

Hello all

Planning to have my mirena out in August (if gp will let me) with the aim to start ttc in October.
I have been on merina for 5 years and the pill for 10 years since I was 17. Main reason being I had horrific periods - like struggling to walk 4 days a month and lasting 10 days. Even on the pill I was having to take painkillers a couple of days
So I am dreading coming off it after 5 years of zero periods

Has anyone else had similar but not had as bad a periods? I am hoping as I have grown up it won't be as bad.

Thanks

I did not think it was up to the GP as to whether you can have your mirena removed or not.

Hopefully they will not be as awful but the cycle could revert to how it was over time (pills and such like mask the symptoms of any underlying problem). If that happens you need to see a gynae; painful periods like described are not the norm at all and its not something that you should at all put up with. Endometriosis is a common cause of such severe and lasting pain and I would urge you to read about this.
