Steps to take to be healthy rather than focus on weight loss

Apologies if this isn't int he correct subject area..

I wanted to put it somewhere else rather than the weight loss chat area..

After nearly two years (had my DS August 2018) and constantly battling between wanting to lose weight, starting slimming world, losing some then putting it back on.. over and over again.. I have now tried to be more focused on being healthy rather than focusing on the weight loss (I am still unhappy with my weight but I feel like I need to step into a healthier mindset before thinking about it anymore) ... what steps can I do to be generally healthier in body, mind and overall?
I feel like all I do is go through the same vicious cycle of being upset, restricting myself then bingeing, then getting upset again and going through this over and over again..
I would ideally just like to fit into my summer clothes which fit when I was half a stone lighter than I am now Blush

If anyone has any tips please share them!

I have stopped trying to be perfect and just trying to make good choices. When I try to be perfect I make one mistake and then give up.

Why did you not want this in the Weight Loss area? - I have found some really interesting and helpful posts on that Board.

My best tip to regain your sanity around food is to wait until you are actually hungry in your stomach not peckish in your mouth to eat.

Then eat what you really want, no matter how unhealthy/weird it seems, if you are really hungry it will be easy to decide what you want and you might be surprised it won't be just crisps and chocolate etc for very long.

When you begin eating the food should taste amazing, stop eating when you are no longer hungry in your stomach (it no longer feels hollow inside) and the food doesn't taste as good, this will be before you feel full.

You should get up from a meal feeling neutral not full, able to move around without any discomfort etc. Tell yourself you can always eat more later when you are hungry, don't use the clock to regulate yourself.

This takes practice if you've dieted for a long time but it's the only way to feel free in my opinion.

You'll think you'll never stop eating but after a while you'll be surprised that you don't need as much food as you thought to feel satisfied and you will crave healthy stuff after you realise you can have junk whenever you want. No food should be forbidden, it's the forbidden nature that makes us want it so much.

Oh and don't beat yourself up if you overeat just wait until you're hungry again and try again. Treat yourself kindly, you need to learnt go eat normally again, like a toddler.

Have you tried couch to 5k and strength and flex? Do them on alternate days, they really do make a difference. You could also try the body positive yoga program (you can do online classes, or do the 7 days of yoga videos which are free). There is a full length class by the same company for free, if you want a trial class before signing up for the online ones. all the best x
