Missing period since December

Hello, I am hoping to TTC for baby 2 this month. Problem is that I haven’t had a period since December and so worried that I won’t be able to conceive. I am still breastfeeding my DD who turned 1 in January. I had my first PP period in November, second one in December and then none since then! In January my daughter was sick and since then has fed A LOT more so wondering if that has messed with my cycle. Has anyone experienced anything similar? Does it mean I am infertile? Sad

Breastfeeding increasing can definitely interfere with your cycle and it doesn’t mean you are infertile but you may need to stop breastfeeding to be able to conceive. There are things you can do to bring it on though. What’s your diet like?

To be honest my diet isn’t great and lockdown has made it worse. I am probably two stone heavier than I was when I tried to conceive first time round. Does diet impact periods or fertility (or both)?

Yes it very much does re periods both in terms of nutrition and excess weight. First off reduce caffeine and sugar intake. Increase vitamin C, D (supplement) and ensure having plenty of iron. In terms of actual infertility ( which it totally doesn’t sound like you have btw) diet doesn’t really help, then it’s more about resetting hormone levels through medical intervention ( generally injections).

Thank you so much for the advice. I had low iron levels too after my daughter and was taking iron supplements. I didn’t go back to get tested to check if my levels had gone up but I have been really tired (which might just be from being a mum) but maybe that is also contributing to it. Will have a look up how I can improve iron levels - thank you!!
