Severe back and leg pain before period??

So I’m lying here struggling to sleep in absolute agony!!

The pains come around a week before I come on but they are getting worse every month. This all started after my periods returned after having my second baby 8 months ago. I had an iud inserted at 9 weeks pp. I’ve had them before and had no issues with them.

Does anyone else suffer with this? My thighs feel like they are on fire.

Everytime I google it I see endometriosis but I’m not diagnosed and surely the pains are felt when on period not the week before 🤔 I just don’t understand why this hurts so much xx

Too much prostaglandins? I have copied some text from internet for you.
"Shortly before a period begins, the endometrial cells that form the lining of the uterus make large amounts of prostaglandins. When these cells break down during menstruation, the prostaglandins are released. They constrict the blood vessels in the uterus and make its muscle layer contract, causing painful cramps."

It is quite common and sometimes even if you never had it before you start having this pain as you age or if your body goes through hormonal changes like pregnancy.

Treatment : ibuprofen or naproxen but please don't take ibuprofen if you have any Covid 19 symptoms.

I have been having this . Not had it before it seems to have started since having my surgery from my miscarriage so I'm sure its hormone changes since loosing my baby . Been having this now for a week and I came on my period yesterday. Back pain and leg pain .. feels like I have done a hard gym session .

My doctor told me it will be hormones and also anxiety can have a big factor on it. What with everything going on at the minute . Anxiety can give you physical symptoms to .

Take care x

👋 I don’t have any great advice or help but know you’re not the only one... I’ve randomly had this for the second period in a row, also my cycle has gone from a very predictable 28/29 days to 35 and 32 in the last two months 🤔 I’m not on any contraception(and haven’t been for 2+ years) so just feels very weird to have my cycles change so randomly!

Agree it’s really painful and feels like I’ve been working out non stop (which I definitely haven’t in lockdown hehe) hurts a lot when moving around and standing up from sitting down and picking things up from the floor etc. No idea what has caused it, but paracetamol/ibuprofen not really doing much!

If it wasn’t for the current situation I probably would have gone to our Surgery’s nurse drop in appointment tomorrow night - but I don’t really want to take up nhs time atm. Really hope it’s a short period for me as today is only day one 😢 don’t think I could hack it for more than a few more days.

Look after yourself OP ... I’ve had a warm bath, and not been without a hot water bottle on my back for the most of the day! Think it helped a bit until I had to move 🤦‍♀️ X

I get this to the point where I totally missed early labour as I confused it with the ‘period pains’ I was told to expect with my induction. I found the Tens machine really helped with the back / leg pains - to the point where I am considering buying one for my periods.
