Thrush, BV or something else?!

Hi, sorry if there’s tmi in this post! So last week I noticed I was feeling a bit sore around my private’s, a little raw and itchy, also noticed an increase in my discharge (watery).

I assumed it was thrush but after doing a duo treatment (which always works quick for me) theres been no improvement.

I ordered a canestan BV test online and the little paddle thing went blue straight away so I then brought the canestan BV treatment... 2 days in and still no improvement and I’m still red and sore I don’t feel like this is improving.

I’ve tried calling my local GP surgery three times now for advice but the phones rung out, I guess with everything going on.

I’ve just read on the nhs website and it said you don’t have irritation itching or pain with BV, I’ve got all of those (haven’t had this one before). So that part sounds like thrush but surely my cream would’ve worked it’s usually great?

This definitely isn’t an sti, I’ve been married for 15 years and we haven’t had sex in a couple of months as he’s been away (I’m up to date with all checks down there).

Anyone experienced BV before and could give me some insight? Does it take a while to go? Has anyone tried the little canestan gels?

Anything else this could be if any help would be great.

The gels work really well, I always have some on standby!

I've got a fungal skin thing going on that isn't classic thrush. My knicker line is basically red and sore and a bit bumpy, and if I let it go untreated its weeping Envy

I'm finding that canestan cream keeps it under control but if I stop using it it comes back. So, until its possible to be checked out I will continue the canestan indefinitely (DO NOT do this, if you have the one that has hydrocortisone in it as that can only be used for a few days).

Is there a local walk in clinic you can access?
Perhaps call the gp reception and ask for their advice

OP I am experiencing similar, have assumed it's thrush but it's not clearing up. Have you called your gp? I'm worried about bothering them with something relatively trivial in the current circumstances but this is really quite uncomfortable to live with.
