Excessive hair growth

Not sure if this is the right place to post, just need some advice and wonder if anyone else is going through a similar thing.

This is a little bit embarrassing for me and it’s gotten worse over the past couple of years.

I already have quite fair skin and naturally dark hair, so it might seem more obvious to me than other people, but I have a lot of hair growth on my chin, neck, under my belly button and thigh area. I pluck everyday and sometimes use wax strips. About ten years ago it was really bad on my lower legs and belly button and I got laser hair removal, but it’s come back.

I’ve looked into maybe PCOS, but I don’t think it’s that as I have regular periods and haven’t had any problems with fertility. One thing I have noticed though is that it’s got significantly worse since I’ve put on weight. It’s really affecting my self esteem. I break out in spots and ingrowing hairs particulary on my neck, which I’m assuming is caused my excessive hair. I’m mid 30’s, I thought this would be a thing of the past.

Anyone else had something similar and what you did to combat it?

I apologise for my previous comment, I am so passionate about this subject as what I have seen my sister go through. I understand people have been diagnosed through numerous ways within the NHS and can only speak about what my sister has gone through.

You are speaking out of your ass and haven’t understood what your sister went through - she probably got a quick blood test and got put on the pill. I have been through a proper investigation. PCOS can only be diagnosed through gaenocology as the medications needed are not all licensed for use by GPs.

@GrumpyHoonMain the last time I will address you.

My sister had a PCOS blood test which needs to be done after a period, this was done twice but years apart.

Any decent UK doctor is able to do this so I do not know what the doctors are like in your location.

Results are usually given 1-2 weeks later

Then an ultrasound sound scan was given to check if anything was abnormal around the ovaries and this was done because nothing came from the blood test results. This is also very common as some people can not get a diagnosis for PCOS from blood tests alone due to other illnesses that they may be suffering with.

So PCOS diagnosis was negative. Results were then sent back to the doctor to discuss with patient.

I live in a major city where doctors are more then capable to get to the bottom of a PCOS diagnosis and quickly. So just because you went through gynaecology probably means you had to wait a lot longer to get a positive diagnosis. That's not my fault!

She has never been on the pill either so your assumptions are false.

Since you are the know it all I will no longer say another word and I take my apology back.

I am also sure the OP wanted advice on how to help with what she is suffering with and Mrs Grumpy has all the answers so fire away and help instead of hijacking the thread for your own agenda.

Jfk how is someone who has third hand knowledge of pcos telling me, a pcos sufferer who has had treatment within the last 12 mths, telling me what is right here??
